If you’ve been here before, the first thing you’ll probably notice is a whole new color palette. Even our featured image on this post has gotten in on that action. So yeah, we’ll have more on that in a sec – but our first priority in this redesign was to make the actual layout more fun and usable than ever before:
- We didn’t fix what wasn’t broken. If you’re looking for a place to quiz near you, the “Find a Quiz” button is in the same place: Front and center. And if you’re at a quiz and ready to get down to business, you’ll still find a link to our Digital Answering System near the top of our nav menu (on the phone/tablet site).
- But right below “Find a Quiz,” you’ll see a revolving display of news stories. Some of the featured articles will be about GWD itself, and some of them will be the best content from our new sister site, Questionist, designed to give you a big hit of that GWD voice on those sad days when you don’t have a quiz nearby.
- Our new “Work With Us” tab shows the many ways you can partner up with the bar-trivia leaders. If you’re a pub owner, a nonprofit, a person or office that wants a private event, or almost literally any other person or group of people (see Quizmasters and Partnerships), we can’t wait to hear from you!
Apart from that, there have been little tweaks and updates to every page, and we hope you love it all! But what about that new look?
Well, Geeks is growing and evolving, much like our loyal audience of quizzers. As we grow we self-reflect, and after a look in the mirror we realized, “oh man, we’re getting old.” After a quick cry we realized that, dammit, we still matter! And we will, as long as our brand continues to clearly communicate all the values that we hold dear: edifying entertainment and inclusive wit.
That means that as much affection as we have for our beloved geek army, we knew it was time to send them scowling off into the sunset, where they can happily live out their days, still holding those untouched beers. You may have noticed the crew slowly stepping back as we’ve integrated our new color palette and retro aesthetics.
So here we are! Our whole raison d’etre is to make the world smarter by spreading a positive love of knowledge. Now that our visual vibe reflects that, we’re one step closer to our goal – or at least we’re showing-and-telling you what we’re up to.
