Geeks Who Drink will be supporting a local organization with a Quiz For A Cause! Here are the details.
Mission Statement: The New Mexico Environmental Law Center’s (NMELC) mission is to work with frontline, low-income, and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) clients and communities to protect our air, land, and water in the fight for environmental justice through legal services, policy development, advocacy, and public education. We provide free legal representation to clients who experience the “first and worst” impacts of pollution and environmental degradation—and organizations (e.g., nonprofits, coalitions) run by and representing frontline communities—so that they can continue leading as grassroots change-agents. Our shared vision is a state where every person, regardless of race/ethnicity or economic status, has clean air, water, and land to sustain health and wellbeing; where regulatory systems are shaped by frontline communities; and where environmental policies and regulations are strengthened and implemented equitably.
The Money is Going Towards: All funds will be used to ensure our critically-needed legal services provided to frontline and low-income clients across New Mexico continue uninterrupted. NMELC provides free and low-cost legal representation to hundreds of clients across the state who are defending environmental justice.
