1. Competition Overview
The 2026 Rumble in the Pub League Competition (“Competition”) is an eight-week, team-based trivia competition conducted at participating Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz weekly events across six (6) designated regional markets. The Competition is organized, conducted, and administered by Geeks Who Drink, LLC (“Competition Organizers”), celebrating 20 years of Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes. All decisions made by the Competition Organizers are final and binding.
Competition Period:
- Begins: Sunday, October 18, 2026 (12:00 AM local time)
- Ends: Saturday, December 12, 2026 (11:59 PM local time)
In addition to these Rules, the Competition is subject to the standard Geeks Who Drink Code of Conduct. There is no purchase or entry fee necessary to play. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning.
2. Eligibility
- Open to legal residents of the United States who are 21 years of age or older (or legal drinking age in the applicable venue jurisdiction).
- Participation must occur exclusively at official participating Geeks Who Drink Classic Pub Quiz weekly events in designated markets.
- Employees of Geeks Who Drink, LLC, participating venues, and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising/promotion agencies, and their immediate family members are strictly prohibited from participating in the Competition or receiving prizes.
- To be eligible to participate, accumulate points, appear on regional leaderboards, or receive prizes, each team and its individual players must use the same email address when entering league games through the official Geeks Who Drink digital answer system prior to or during play.
- The email address used for your first league game MUST be used for every subsequent game played. Your team name tied to that email address for the first league game played will be used to track your standings on the leaderboard throughout.
- Failure to properly maintain consistent team identification via the email address associated with the team may result in disqualification and forfeiture of points.
- Email address used for league registration will adhere to Geeks Who Drink’s Privacy Policy. It will NOT be used in published league standings.
3. Team Structure
- Teams may consist of up to six (6) players per game.
- Teams must maintain a consistent email address and team name throughout the 8-week Competition Period to ensure points are correctly attributed.
4. Participating Markets (Regions)
The Competition consists of six (6) participating regional markets:
- Boston, MA
- Chicago, IL
- Colorado Springs, CO
- Portland, OR
- Rochester, NY
- Albuquerque, NM
A complete list of participating venues per region will be published on the official Geeks Who Drink website prior to launch.
5. Participation & Weekly Scoring System Rules
- A “Competition Week” is defined as Sunday at 12:00 AM through Saturday at 11:59 PM local to participating venues.
- Teams may play as many times as they like during a single week across any participating Geeks Who Drink venues in participating regions.
National and Regional Competition
- Weekly High-Score is defined as a team’s single highest final game score (including Joker usage) earned during a given Competition Week (Sunday–Saturday). This Weekly High-Score will count toward overall league standings and cumulative totals.
- Any theme quiz events or other Geeks Who Drink products OUTSIDE of the Classic Pub Quiz product offering run at locations in the region ARE NOT part of the Rumble in the Pub League.
- The Competition utilizes cumulative Weekly High-Scores accumulated across the eight-week period.
- Leaderboard updates will be published weekly following the close of each Competition Week, subject to scoring audit and verification.
Round 2 Competition
- Weekly Round 2 High-Score is defined as a team’s single highest raw Round 2 score (NOT including Joker usage) earned during a given Competition Week (Sunday–Saturday). This Weekly Round 2 High-Score will count toward overall league standings and cumulative totals.
- Any theme quiz events or other Geeks Who Drink products OUTSIDE of the Classic Pub Quiz product offering run at locations in the region ARE NOT part of the Rumble in the Pub League.
- The Competition utilizes cumulative Round 2 Weekly High-Scores accumulated across the eight-week period.
- Leaderboard updates will be published weekly following the close of each Competition Week, subject to scoring audit and verification.
6. Tie-Breaking Procedures
In the event of a tie in total cumulative points at the end of the 8-week period for regional or national standings:
- Highest Cumulative Round 7 Scores: The tie will be broken by comparing each tied team’s highest cumulative point totals for round seven across the 8-week Competition. This tiebreaker will use the RAW cumulative round seven scores. It WILL NOT factor in any Joker-related point doubling for the tiebreaker.
- Highest Cumulative Round 6 Scores: If still tied, the secondary tie will be broken by comparing each tied team’s highest cumulative point totals for round six across the 8-week season. This tiebreaker will use the RAW cumulative round six scores. It WILL NOT factor in any Joker-related point doubling for the tiebreaker.
All final scoring determinations made by the Competition Organizers are binding.
7. Regional Prizes
At the conclusion of the 8-week Competition Period, the following prizes will be awarded per participating region:
- Regional 1st Place Champion: $600 CASH + Super Cool Rumble in the Pub Trophy
- Special Rule: If the Regional 1st Place Champion also wins the National Grand Prize, they will receive the $1,200 National Grand Prize instead of the $600 Regional 1st Place Cash Prize.
- Regional 2nd Place: $300 CASH
- Regional 3rd Place: $120 CASH
- Regional Round 2 Champion: Custom GWD Vinyl Record Trophy awarded to the team with the highest total cumulative points scored specifically in Round 2 across all 8 weeks in that region.
Prize Claim & Distribution:
- Holders of registration email addresses of winning teams will have five (5) business days from notification to confirm their team’s eligibility and prize details. Failure to respond within this window may result in forfeiture and award to the next highest-ranking team.
- Cash prizes will be issued to the email address holder within ten (10) business days of confirmation. The email address holder is solely responsible for distributing prize funds to team members.
- Competition Organizers assume no liability or responsibility for internal disputes regarding distribution of funds among team members.
- Winners are responsible for any applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
8. National Grand Prize
- National Geek Champion: The team with the highest overall cumulative points across all 6 participating regions at the end of the 8 weeks will receive $1,200 CASH.
- As noted in Section 7, the National Champion is ineligible to double-dip the Regional 1st Place cash prize (receiving $1,200 total in cash, along with applicable trophy honors).
9. Random Geek Champion (Participation Draw)
- Prize: $600 CASH awarded to one (1) randomly selected team in each of the 6 regions at the conclusion of the Competition.
- Entries: Entries are accrued through active event participation. Teams earn one (1) ballot entry for each Competition Week in which they submit an official score.
- Minimum Participation: To qualify for the random draw, teams must participate and log a score in a minimum of two (2) separate Competition Weeks during the 8-week season.
- Exclusions: Teams finishing in the top three (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Place) overall in their region are excluded from winning the Random Geek Champion draw in their market.
- Winning team email address holders will have five (5) business days to respond and claim the prize before a re-draw is conducted.
10. Integrity, Conduct & Disqualification
Competition Organizers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any team or player found or suspected of:
- Cheating, including the use of unauthorized electronic devices, cell phones, internet searches, or outside assistance during game rounds.
- Collusion or score manipulation between teams or with event hosts.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct or harassment toward hosts, venue staff, or fellow competitors.
- Impersonating players or registering multiple team profiles to circumvent weekly scoring limits.
Disqualified teams forfeit all cumulative points, leaderboard placements, and rights to prizes.
11. Venue Disclaimer & Schedule Changes
Geeks Who Drink and Competition Organizers are not responsible for:
- Unforeseen venue closures, schedule changes, or holiday cancellations.
- Severe weather events or force majeure disruptions affecting weekly pub quiz events.
- Addition or removal of participating venues during the Competition Period. Points accrued at participating venues that are added or removed throughout Competition will still count towards league standings.
Competition Organizers reserve the right to alter schedules, adjust venue availability, or modify scoring rules as necessary to preserve fairness.
12. Technical & Administrative Issues
Competition Organizers are not responsible for:
- Technical failures, internet outages, or software delays in score processing.
- Errors in score entry or transmission at the venue level.
In the event of a verified technical glitch or missing score sheet, Competition Organizers reserve the right to audit, correct, or adjust team scores upon review of host records.
13. Publicity & Media Release
By participating in the Competition, players grant Geeks Who Drink, LLC and its partners the non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to use team names, player names, photographs, video footage, and audio captured during events for marketing, promotional, and social media purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.
14. Intellectual Property
All Geeks Who Drink logos, quiz content, brand trademarks, and event formats remain the sole intellectual property of Geeks Who Drink, LLC. Participation in the league confers no rights or licenses to use Geeks Who Drink IP outside of standard player participation.
15. Modification & Termination
Competition Organizers reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Competition or its Official Rules at any time if fraud, technical failures, or any unpreventable factor impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the league.
