We began our quiz last night with a round on the current U.S. cabinet. Fortunately, we got that shit out of the way early. Then we could move on to something we all agree on: being tired of SXSW. GTFO SXSWers get the team name of the night award for their lack of hospitality and for being a literal rallying cry at the quiz. Hoots of insider approval littered the courtyard when I read team names. But don’t bullshit me. Half of you guys looked like you’d been through SEAL team hell week because you’d either sat through way too many movies, or spent too much time in the sun drinking and watching bands. Bitching about SXSW is a tried and true Austin ritual, and I embrace it with every fiber of my being.

What did we learn?

Rob Ford has supplanted Marion Berry in our minds as the crack-smoking mayor.

If you ask Austinites to name a Ken Kesey novel, they go straight for “Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” and bypass “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

You almost can’t go wrong with hydrogen if a question begins with, “What two elements…”

The next time Chuck Berry dies, of course there’s going to be more than one team called, “Chuck Buried.”

I love hosting in running shorts.

The outside quiz is better than the inside quiz. Totally.

In the end:

There was a three-way tie for third. Props, but no prizes, to chuck buried, #dumbbitch, and 50 Shades of Grey’s Anatomy. Left Already had strong game that brought them a second place berth. And the gentlemen of O.G. Chuck Buried clawed their way to the top, after a few weeks of also-ran status.

I’ll see you next week at 7. The weather’s supposed to be nice. And the n00bs will have left town by then.
