I Knew You Were Waiting for Me to Write this BlogJared
I'm still looking for a copy of George Michael's hit single "Random Knowledge", but I haven't been able to find it. But anyway, Happy New Year! I had to drive for New Year's Eve, so I drank about one beer while I was out, got home at about 4 in the morning, and then promptly started drinking. Good way to start the year. My resolution this year is to buy more records. I think I can manage it.
Also, we had a pub quiz last night which was a good way to spend the third day of the year. All the titles were from George Michael songs, who we tragically lost to the bastard year that was 2016. So far, no major celebrities have died this year, although Charles Manson is in the hospital, so we'll see how that goes. Anyway, quiz. Round 1 was words made up of the letters in FAITH, which most teams did well on. Round 2 was about sexy songs, because George Michael wanted your sex. Round 3 was Cowboys and Angels, which just happened to be sports teams. Round 4 was about old freedom fighters and Round 5 was about Disney werewolves. I think. I get confused sometimes. Round 6 was about security breeches or Careless Whispers as George Michael called them. Round 7 was gross scenes from movies that most of you had heard of, and Round 8 was random and difficult as always.
It was a new year, so we had some new teams, some old teams, some new names for old teams, and some new winners! 3 at the Bar told me if there were 11 teams, they felt like they could crack the top 10, and they got 10th place with 14 teams, so well done there. Die Muschis were a new team and took 9th. The Ancient Mariners fell to 7th this week, since their ringer had a yacht club meeting scheduled by one of their rivals. Well played, Ian. Well played. Legolas My Eggo (formerly Big MK) took 6th after a two week hiatus to Wisconsin. 5th place went to Like Derek Carr's Fibula, We're Broke. There was a tie for 3rd place between Book Hockey and I am 2016 Going On 2017, Maybe I Should Drink. Second place went to MENSA Rejects, although they would have been first if they saved their joker until round 8, but you just never know about that one. And that means for the first time, 1st place went to Taking Back Tuesday! Congratulations, you guys!
Thanks for coming out to the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, where we will continue to be every Tuesday night for Geeks Who Drink!
Jared is most definitely a geek who drinks. In addition to hosting a pub quiz, you're likely to find him in a mosh pit at a punk rock or thrash metal show. He collects records and comic books and types about himself in the 3rd person. His greatest trivia accomplishment is he once won a trip to London on a game show that he wasn't a contestant on. His greatest drinking achievement is the 30 Equis Challenge. He's smart, funny, and good looking. So, naturally, he's taken. By his wife of over 15 years. Play his quiz every Tuesday in HMB!
