Ketel One Actually Does Make Me TinglyJared
It was good to be back at The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company for quiz this Tuesday, since we skipped it last Tuesday due to the Apocalypse...I mean election. Clearly I can never take the week off again. But hey, at least global warming is going to be illegal, so that's a good thing. Right? Right? No, it probably isn't.
Anyway, at least the pub quiz was a good one last night. We started Round 1 going all around the U.S. which wasn't too difficult, but apparently songs that don't rhyme are. Round 2 was tough, and if you did well, you probably ended up in one of the top spots for the evening. Round 3 was Cohen or Nimoy, which would have been easier if you'd heard of Leonard Cohen. Round 4 was a fun one. I've been studying for round 4 since 1987, so I knew all the answers, and so did most of you! If you're reading this and don't remember round 4, it's from all the drugs and alcohol, which is what the round was about. And again, please don't do drugs in the bathroom. Round 5 had sad people, Round 6 was in honor of Lonely Planet. Since I put that in bold, can they send me money to? Or at least a discount coupon? Something? Anyway, round 7 was a fun one listening to people talk smack about bad parts of movies, and round 8 was Round 8. As it tends to be.
We had a total of 15 teams during the course of the evening, and it's the start of a twelve week cumulative tournament, so I'm guessing we're going to be busy for a while. And I'm okay with that, it just means if you want to win, you need to kick some serious ass. Which some of you sure did! 5th place Soleil were only two points from 3rd, and 4th place Big MK were only one point away. But 3rd place (thanks to a 14 point round 8!) went to The Taming of the Brew. And they weren't too far behind 2nd place Ancient Mariners, and they weren't too far behind the first place Smarty Pints! All in all, not too shabby quizzers!
See you next Tuesday, in which it will be two days before Thanksgiving and only one day before my fifteenth wedding anniversary! Huge shout out to my wife who still puts up with me. See you next week at the BrewCo for Geeks Who Drink!
Jared is most definitely a geek who drinks. In addition to hosting a pub quiz, you're likely to find him in a mosh pit at a punk rock or thrash metal show. He collects records and comic books and types about himself in the 3rd person. His greatest trivia accomplishment is he once won a trip to London on a game show that he wasn't a contestant on. His greatest drinking achievement is the 30 Equis Challenge. He's smart, funny, and good looking. So, naturally, he's taken. By his wife of over 15 years. Play his quiz every Tuesday in HMB!
