Invader ZIM, But Not Venture Bros?
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

I see I have to assign more remdeial television watching again. Our Visual Round had human/robot pairs. One team only knew ZIM and GIR. How can you have watched Invader ZIM (which I love) and NOT The Venture Bros? For those who have not watched this excellent cartoon, what are you waiting for? Go set your DVR to record it off of Cartoon Network. And if you've not watched Invader ZIM, I advise you to remedy that as soon as possible. Now don't get me started about Archer. If you haven't watched that, well, I think we may have to get you to some sort of animation intervention. Tonight we learned that we need to blame Alfred Hitchcock for that awful Doris

Happy Birthday Nathan!
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

A special thanks to Nathan's team for bringing him in to celebrate his birthday with a dose of Quiz! Of course he may not have thought it was as good a present as a winning lottery ticket or birthday sex, but hey, be thankful you had friends nice enough to at least take you out for dinner/drinks/quiz. There was some debate over the answer for one of the Round 8 questions tonight. This is why we have the Errorogenous Zone. If you ever question whether our answer is correct, let us know about it! It won't really change the outcome of the scores for that night, but sometimes it's just good to vent. I feel it as my duty as a quizmaster

April Showers Bring May... Screw You, We're Colorado!
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

This is the time of year that we don't call Spring. We call it bi-polar. It was in the 70s last week, today we get up to 24" of snow in the foothills. I know a number of folks that will enjoy Breckenridge this weekend. There was one team name tonight that summed up a lot of people's opinions: Hoping For A Snow Day! A few new teams showed up tonight and that always makes for a fun quiz. The team scores were bouncing back and forth throughout the night and wound up with a 3-way tie for some teams at the end. We learned that both Tom Cruise and Ted Cruz are kind of... "off" (if you know what I mean). Also, there does not seem to be much of a difference

Do Southern Buttermilk Biscuits Rise Again?
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

In the Civil War, Robert E. Lee surrendered 150 years ago today. One would think that race relations in this country would have progressed a lot farther in that time. I certainly hope that it does not take another 150 years to get us to the point where the color of someone's skin is irrelevant. Going off on a weird sci-fi tangent... just imagine what would happen today if we wound up in a First Contact situation with some ETs. How would they react seeing the hatred and discrimination between members of our own species? What if all that violence winds up being redirected towards the ETs? I shudder to think of what could happen. On a lighter note, it was a neck-and-neck quiz tonight.

In Colorado, Nature Fools You!
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

It's the day after April Fool's Day, springtime, so of course Mother Nature decides to have it snow! Of course this will happen on-and-off for at least another month (of course it also makes for some fun spring skiing). I hope you hadn't put all your winter coats away. Tonight's blog is more ranty than usual. While I still like to rip CDs to MP3, I've been using Google Play's Music section to get a lot of tunes lately. I like that they give away a lot of free music each month and I like that they do not use a variable bitrate on the files (like Amazon does). They have a nice little program for your computer called Music Manager that will let you download your music all at once instead

Quick, think of a witty headline!
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

It was great seeing some teams tonight that haven't come out on Thursdays in a while! Special thanks to Two Nerdy Girls and Yo Ho Ho! There were some tough questions tonight. Only one team knew the actual name of the song Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. Most confused the name of the song with its venue Camp Granada (which is frankly understandable). There were some interesting answers in Round 7 where we had to guess which celebrity had a short-lived talk show. I'm not sure how one would confuse Robert DeNiro for Emeril Lagasse. But what really threw me for a loop was confusing Tony Danza and ALF. I mean, that's a big insult to ALF. Now I have a craving

OMG Shoes
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

Like most of you, I, too, had pretty much forgotten about Imelda Marcos and her closets full of shoes. I wonder if Kelly is any relation to her? I think our writers drank too much on Tuesday. And instead of sharing their bounty of booze, we get a round on shoes. Tomorrow is the first day of Spring, so I do expect to see a foot of snow in the next two weeks. You know Mother Nature is a bitch like that. But then again, that could make for some killer Spring skiing. This week was my cat Morpheus' birthday (actualy, we have the same birthday). He turned 3, and I turned a LOT older than that. He has, for some reason, decided he has to sleep in the crook of my arm at night. It's OK

Erin Go Barf!
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

Last week you either loved or hated the Swedish Chef covering show tunes. This week you either loved or hated the operatic covers of various tunes from people like 50 Cent, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Psy. I'm scared of what we'll see next week. Bluegrass covers of Deep Purple? You can tell that people are gearing up for St. Pat's day as the pubs are getting more rowdy and populated. That's a good thing. I had my first hangover in Cashel, Ireland. I had built up a bit of an alcohol tolerance up in Greeley - more than I'd like to remember (a LOT of kamikazes were consumed at very cheap prices). So there I was, at sea level-ish, and feeling a bit parched. I went up to the bartender and said
