Multitasking At It's Finest, Or Possibly Not
JeffreyTanguay

I am pretty much in heaven right about now. I just found out that The Venture Bros. season five is available for streaming, and I am so. friggin. happy! I never really got into the show until I found out that it has an overarching narrative -- and then I marathoned the shit out of it. Running jokes, completely over the top characters, drama, action, intrigue, funny sound effects, betrayal, paranoia, shouting… it's freaking great! Unfortunately, when I did that, the show stopped at season four, and went on hiatus, for like… years. And, I totally forgot about it. Until yesterday,

Some Light Reading About The Coming Apocalypse
JeffreyTanguay

A new book came out yesterday that has been so interesting I have yet to be able to put it down. It's about the pilgrimage away from Earth after a natural disaster, and it has been focused on how the people on the ISS are preparing to hole up and escape the planet. Super interesting, and I'm at the part where the end is nigh, so to speak. I was up reading until 3 am, and passed out just before the transition to The End… so I can't wait to get back into it. So many great concepts to think about, like getting rid of thermal energy (I didn't know that was an issue) to using algae fields

I Am The Rocker, The Roller, Teh Out Of Controller!
JeffreyTanguay

This is exciting. I am excited. Tonight, I will revel in glorious, bloody, dusty, growling, screaming, over the top, crazy desert action. I will watch, with glee, as oppressed people come together and fight a huge fight, for REASONS! I will see psychopaths on poles bouncing around, catching on fire, being unpredictable and crazy. My favorite game of all time was inspired by and epitomizes the atmosphere brought by this film's forebears, and I fully expect to leave the showing with a freaky, crescent-like, unstoppable grin. There may be fist pumping. Why?MAD FUCKING MAX, PEOPLE.I have been so freaking excited for this movie. The last one to get all up in my brainstem

Epic Movie Sagas Are The Future
JeffreyTanguay

I got a chance to see Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I have to say it was pretty decent! It had a lot of good action, and some pretty decent character development. My favorite part, though, is seeing the overall bigger picture slowly coalesce. I'm really excited for the upcoming arcs, and it might be enough in the long run to convince me to start reading comics. Where I'm really stoked, though, is for kids. I was thinking about it, and when I was growing up we didn't have extended sagas. Oh, we had Star Wars, and Roots, and a Miniseries TV Event once in a while, but not the type of thing where

Gimme Some Sugar, Baby (Groovy!)
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

When I was a kid, I fell in love with movies. As soon as I got permission to cross the busy street near my house, around 8 years old, I started biking to the video store nearby like once or twice a week. After a month or so, my best friend at the time and I hatched a plan, and basically bluffed our way into getting "Rated-R" authorization. I think we said his dad told us to get a specific movie or something, I can't remember exactly, but the point is it worked, and 8 year old Jeff was given free reign to rent pretty much any movie ever.    So what did we do with our brand new freedom? We rented a couple of movies. The first pick was Predator

Tweets Should Be Read In Your Head, Not Out Loud
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

Oh, Twitter. Sometimes, I think about how useful you can be at conveying messages, at communicating with the masses, at spreading ideas. You can see what people are thinking of, what they are interested in, and follow surges of interest that can be come tsunamis of information… but weh you sit back and actually read some tweets, from the Average Jane and Joe, and you realize how much potential we squander just so people can get attention. Also, reading tweets aloud can cause you to become instantly cynical. I never had a problem with the term hashtag until I had to say it out loud, repeatedly, and in front of a crowd, and at no point did I want to punch myself

The Universe Is Really Really Big... Like Your MOM!!! (Ooohhhh)
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

I have been playing too much Diablo 3. It's a lot easier to get sucked in to a game when your car is at the mechanic and you can't go anywhere, but once you pick up your car and go home, and fire it right back up, well… the first step is admitting you have a problem. The big reason I picked this game up was an awesome sale, and recent changes have completely changed how the game operates, so the part of my brain that loves tearing stuff apart is freaking out trying to figure out all of the nuances of this game. I am SO FAR behind the people who never stopped playing. Level 61 Paladin, and I'm only on Act 2.   We started quiz off with a nice

This Is Not The Best Headline I've Ever Come Up With
The Greatest Quizmaster Of All Time

Who ends a sentence with a preposition? What a jerk...   I have taken up rock climbing over the last couple of years, and recently have started transitioning from climbing at a gym to climbing outside, and let me tell you: whoa. Totally different experience. Rock climbing routes have a difficulty rating attached to them, from 5.0 to 5.15. The higher the decimal, the higher the difficulty. I can do 5.10 in the gym all day, and some 5.11, but on a real rock I'm stuck at like 5.8 to 5.9. Also, the ground is always at most 50 feet beneath you in a gym, but outside that 50 feet has a twenty foot slope leading up to the wall, and a 200 foot cliff below that. It's slightly more
