Whisky, PBR, and BJ's...quite the quiz night.
Snarky Shark

May 22nd, 2017 - The Whisky Bar So, what do I mean by tonight's team name? Well, it just happened to be the middle of the pack teams that conveniently came together. No pun intended. For once. In any case, it wasn't about to be a slow night at quiz this week. Rain? Nope.Cold? Nope.Cold Beer? Yes. Tonight, Bainbridge Brewery was having a Beer Night and I got to try some of their brewskis. All whilst the salesman read the website description of the beer.Luckily the Sour beer was pretty decent.<A Glowing Reccomendation!> But enough of my attempted play-acting as a beer afficianado. What of the Quiz?! Well,

Hi Everyone,

This is Snarky Shark. I'm the current host of the GeeksWhoDrink Pubquiz over at the Lunchbox Laboratory in South Lake Union and The Blarney Stone on Pike.

As for me, I'm pretty much a Seattlite. Sure, I've lived all over the Western United States, but I definitely call this place my home.

Personally, I dig science questions. Why? Well, in real life <le sigh> I'm a graduate student in the Department of Biochemistry in the University of Washington. Though, I can't say I've ever made a Kool-Aid cocktail as is the case with the Lunchbox Lab.

I really enjoy the regular players, with their funny quirks. As well as the hopeful glean in the eyes of the newbies who think they can win. (How quickly those hopes are shattered...)

Need a ringer for Chemistry? Biochemistry? Weird Geological Distributions of Heavy Metals? (Music and otherwise?) I can help with that. However, if you're on the other side of the quiz...I can't help you. But you're going to need it.

See you then.

Snarky Shark

May 15th, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Tonight we saw the fierce and intense socioeconomic battle betweenThe Blemfarks and The Guys at the Bar. While team Guys at the Bar insisted that "It was all down-hill from here."The managed to maintain their lead throughout the night, right until round 7Where The Blemfarks caught up in a neck and neck battle for first place. Meanwhile Teams JCrew and Calloused Pannus had their only battle for coveted 3rd Place,Otherwise know as "Not last!". The final round in tonight's game broke up the ties like a pair of scissors in a suits shop,

Dem Kitties, Yo.
Snarky Shark

May 8th, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Sometimes, when it comes to team names, you're just out of ideas.Trash Cat isn't doing it for you. That one team name only offended 90% of the bar.You try to find something that really brings you all together, like Hashtag Yolo Swag.Or the humor that spurred that inspiring combination of words ran out by the end of round 3. ...and that is how you get teamnames like "Dem Muscle Kitties." C'mon, y'all. You can do better than that. Perhaps it's about inspiration? We haven't had a drawing contest in a while. Maybe that will help. Afterall, prizes are decent incentive. Which

May 1st, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Yep, it was indeed the First of May at The Whisky Bar. Having queued up JoCo's First of May, I proceeded to calmly captain this ship that is pubquiz through the foundering waters that is heckling drunk geeks. Not all would brave these shallows, but not all are Snarky Shark. So how did quiz fare for these foul-mouthed fellows? Well, they seem to have taken a liking to: Round 1: From the Top&Round 3: Passing Gas. Look at that. Chemistry in Motion. But curse the very name of: Round

April 24th, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Feeling a bit off, lately? Having trouble sleeping? Believe in Astrology? If so, I've got news. Looks like the celestial body, Space Cat, is in Retrograde. This is bigger than that Mercury nonsense you've been hearing about! At least, so one of my teams told me. In additional signs of doomed portent, Team Just Tom made a triumphant entry into theWhisky Bar by claiming first place and never letting up!Impressive. Guess their quiz skills haven't rusted yet. But what of the rest of the crew at The Whisky Bar? Well, Cat V remained pretty chillax

Ayahuasca the questions around here!
Snarky Shark

April 17th, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Tonight we saw a rousing game of quiz with various magical and meandering musings, but in the end, team The Fighting Imps managed to short-change the competition. They are also known forspelling Ayahuasca as Iowaska, which it technically a decent alternative spelling, but I still found highly amusing.Oh, Iowa. But what of the rest of the game? The Mental Minnows sought to psych out the competition, but wound up sleeping with the fishes. The Equesticals never stopped horsing around and ended up dropping to 3rd place. In the end, Stick and Jiggle just

Snarky Shark

April 10th, 2017 - The Whisky Bar Tonight we had some truly awesome stuff. For one, I was greeted at the door with a sign demonstrating that the Barstaff has clearly seen Rick & Morty Season 3 Episode 1. Secondly, it was Fourth Quizzaversary time! Yep, I've been doing this quizmastery for over 5 years, but I've also had a pretty amazing team that has stuck around for 4 of those. At about the 1 year mark, they asked what I had planned for quizzaversary. Since then, it's been kind of a thing. Sure, other awesome teams have seen the origins of Snarky Shark. Nice to be hosting on the west side once more! The Whisky Bar and its inebriated geeks make for a fun night of cheers, groans, and irreverent language, which is a big change-up from the family friendly east side. Fun fact: Ken helped train me in as a widdle n00b QM – But, while it is known that Sith lords kill their masters to keep the bloodline strong, I can assure you that Ken will return from Japan in mostly one piece. Based on his Facebook pics, he’ll have some interesting stories to tell.   Notable things:   The champions have been dethroned! “The” Athletic Supporters, a team that has held a winning streak
