Since Evelyn and Chelsea are galavanting around New Mexico, I had the pleasure of subbing last night. I was informed that you guys are serious quizzers and therefore I shouldn't fuck it up too badly, but you were honestly some of the nicest I have met (except when Phil made me cry). It was also fun to have 32 teams - I know that is not a lot for you all, but for me that is insane. I don't even think I have 32 friends.  

Round 1's answers all started with "par," and other than knowing that parson is another word for priest, everyone did really well. Round 2 featured songs about people talking behind your back - everyone's favorite song topic. Round 3 was all on basketball. And even as a basketball player (intramural champs = greatest law school accomplishment), I did not know all those slang terms. I personally never like to point out when someone has nice handles or is wet - especially on he court. Round 6 was all about rebels (my specialty) and Round 7 had you name the Swedish song taken by a cover band. For the teams well-versed in their Swedish music, it was a pretty good round.  

However, I think the highlight of the night was the visual round, which asked you to name the object from the movie that had been replaced with a penis. I made a joke about how I didn't know what the object was because I had never seen a penis before, but I just want to clarify that I have, in fact, seen a penis (you can google image anything these days). 

Mr. Definitely finished in first place, followed closely by Magical Short Bus Mystery Tour. We had a tie for third between Klein Bottle Jacket Jarvis and Amys Batshit Crazy Bistro Frozen Foods from a Frosty Feline. After an intense, draw-off of the outline of Tennessee, a neutral third party (the cute bar-back) picked Klein as the winner. 

Thanks so much for being so wonderful and smart and nerdy. I felt right at home.

In last week's blog I promised to be more interactive with and attentive toward your dogs. Last night around 9:30 I started walking around the patio, wanting to meet all the dogs that were there so far. I got to my second dog, and he tried to bite me. The owner said, "Oh, did he nip at you?" Uh, yes. Yes, he did. So I went back to the table, dejected and feeling hated by all dogs. I'll try again next time.

Last night was a special night, for a few reasons. We had a particularly Disgusting Audio round, a round on May I?, and a round 5 that just about everyone tanked.

We had a group of Quizmasters playing along, and the usual lineup of regulars. Chelsea and I had a great time with all of you and we ended with a few minutes to spare. 

The weather was just perfect last night. Just perfect.

Last night you all got a gander at QM Jeavon, who is one of our favorite people in the world. She hosted a round about Guys Over the Age of 30 and all the things they shouldn't be into. 

We had the lamest team name in the world last night: My Couch... sorry, I can't even bear to type it. Why does everyone come out with the same team name? They must get it from a movie or something. Well, welcome to your first quiz. Don't make that mistake again.

Last night was pretty great. The weather was perfect, and so many dogs joined us out on the patio. Listen, if you get a chance to bring your dog to quiz (and your dog isn't a nuisance), then you totally should. The more dogs there are, the better. I'll try to start talking about them in the blog. Last night, I only knew one of the dogs - Asta. The first time Asta came to quiz, he sat right next to our table. It was the night of his life, sitting next to the busiest table. Last night he couldn't sit there, but he still had a big grin on his face by the end of the night. The only other dog I know is Joey, who couldn't make it last night. So I'll start making more of an effort to meet all the dogs before quiz. Once quiz starts it's hard to get up from my seat.
