Maple Leaf, Thursday: 8:00 p.m.
Matt (English Matt)

I'm Houston's only English quizmaster and a beloved local celebrity. I came to the USA to steal quizmaster jobs from honest, hard-working Americans. Mission Accomplished.

Currently, you can find me running the Geeks Who Drink quiz on Thursday at the Maple eaf Pub You may also remember me from previous hosting stints at the Ashford Arms and Little Woodrow's Midtown. If you see me around Houston, please ask me for an autograph or try and get a picture taken with me.

Hello dear readers. We have reached the end of another week, and now your eyes turn once more to the Geeks Who Drink blog, to read about what happened at the Maple Leaf pub on a Thursday.

Let me tell you, if you weren't there, you missed out. An old man turned up and got angry at an empty chair, which he claimed was the president! It was insane!

(Ok, I've just been informed that the old man and the chair may have been on TV rather than at the quiz, though I stand by my point that it was nuts.)

What definitely did happen though was a round on sex terms that was as fun to play as it was embarrassing too read. Then, to wash that filth out of our minds, the wholesome goodness of dinosaurs, in aspects both friendly (Denver the Last Dinosaur) and terrifying (Dino Crisis).

We also tested everyone's skills in mathematics with a round of Dubya-related arithmetic, then gave the old memory banks a spin by playing Robert Shaw's awesome Indianapolis monologue from Jaws and asking questions based on that.

This week, Nilbog came in second place, while The Unprintables took first. Neither of them yelled at an empty chair at a major political convention and for this I congratulate them.

GWD shall return to the Maple Leaf next week. Be good!
