I grew up in Burlington, VT, and moved here on a whim in 2003.  Became the quiz presenter at White Horse Tavern in 2005, where I worked for 7 years for another quiz company. Then Geeks Who Drink came a-callin'.  I first rejected their overtures, but joined the family when they offered to pay me in hair gel.

When I'm not hosting your quiz or hitting on you, I enjoy horse racing, kayaking, baseball, and football.  I once won $33,000 on a $48 horse ticket.  I was on "Judge Mathis" in 2004, and also appeared locally on the Red Sox trivia game show "The Batters' Box" in 2009.  Yet, I still get recognized for appearing for ten seconds on a casting special for "Beauty and the Geek" in 2005.  Seriously, it's aired on television maybe twice, and people recognize it.  It's stupendous.

Yes.  Yes, I can.  It's not a refrain that I hear as often now that I'm with Geeks Who Drink, which is predicated more upon themes as opposed to categories.  The science fans got their chance to shine in tonight's Round 6, which was an octet on botany.  As Rounds 6 often are, this one was a bit ornery, as the median score was 4.

One scoring trend that I appreciate is efficient use of the joker, which doubles a team's score for a given round.  Rounds 2 and 8 are the best places in which to use the Joker, which may be applied once per game, because they are worth 16 points instead of the usual 8.  To this end, only two of our 29 entries tonight jokered on rounds other than those two.  Only one team among the top 10 did not joker the round on which they acheived the highest score.  One month in, teams are picking up on Geeks Who Drink strategy very nicely.

Smelly objects, fire songs, and text messaging slang were among the topics we covered tonight.  Is there anything about which U Mad? is not knowledgeable?  If there is, I seldom present it to them.  They don't lose on many Thursdays in which they play.  After a bye last week, they came back and won by three over the sextet known as The Slutdome.  Is that the site of the next Lingerie Football League championship?

Looking forward to a weekend of horseplaying, postseason baseball, and the Patriots-Jets Border War.  Rake your leaves, pick your apples, don your sweaters, and we'll talk Sunday at 8!
