I'm a girl.

I like stuff and fun and beer.

I have had a variety of jobs including tattoo artist, scenic painter/muralist, jackpot representative, radio dj, and contract administrator. I try a lot of things to see if I like them, sometimes I do.

Being a Quiz Master is awesome.

It's sorta amazing how different the quizzes are and how the game unfolds every night. Even though it is the same format, there is such a variety of subject matter. It makes things exciting and hard to predict. You know...sometimes it looks like one thing will happen and then there is a sudden change at the end. Kind of like an M.Night Shyamalan movie. What ever happened to that guy? At the end of the night, Team Solo took first place with 62 points (Not too much of a surprize), and Team Whiskeysaurs landed second with 57 points. COOL GUYS!

Chillers is pretty cool too. There is a huge quizzing area, lots of pool tables, fancy woodwork everywhere and it sits up against the ice skating rink on 7th street. Right now, the rink looks like a dirt park with fascinating plastic piping barrel rolled up. They look like those old hair rollers, the kind that feel like velcro on the outside. Pretty soon, there is going to be ice, skates, people and lights for the quizzers to enjoy while playing. I like it.

Thanks to all those who came out and played AND if I don't see you before then, Happy Halloween!

As a QuizMaster. I get a fun change up in my sleepy Sacramento days.  I get to know a bunch of new people in the area and learn all kinds of fun facts while at it!

That’s right, and I ask because they weren’t in round two tonight and of all the teams that lost in a major surprise upset tonight: they were robbed.  There.  I said it, and I feel better.

Round one, got everyone loosened up and laughing.  Round two… well, I think we had rather outdone ourselves as a member of When 2 Becomes 1 reached into my plate and took a piece of pizza!  I considered revoking their joker for the game, but then realized that would be against the Geneva Convention on collective punishment.  And by the way, if you haven’t had their pizzas yet – the chef’s combinations are really inspired.  I had an exquisite symphony of chevre, rosemary, Serrano ham, and artichoke hearts – and perhaps now you agree that my indignation was justified.

Round three was a fun one on geography and I think most of the teams got into it.  But it’s a trifle troubling how little we know of the (few) countries with which we haven’t yet… had military involvement … yet.  Round four: FAI, I never really got into that artificially cutesy ‘texting talk’ that’s ATRTD.  It’s so pathetically exclusive ‘are you in on the obscure acronyms or not’?  OMG then you’re sooo 20L8.  Translation: fai – shit, I already forgot the meaning of that acronym I just made up.  Hang on, it’ll come to me.  ATRTD - all the rage these days, and 20L8 – two thousand and late.  Round five really felt like déjà vu for me because on September 20th I’d done a round 7 with clips for many of the same movies, asking participants to identify the film.  And now, I had pictures of the film, and all I could think was ‘some question writer loves submarine flix’ (Check out the round titled, ‘Your Cockswain is Showing’ to see what I mean).  But round six brought redemption.  Well sort of.  It was another fun round as we got to talk about sex!  In botany.  But still, SEX!  And yeah baby, I am calling a stamen sort of phallic – tho the length to girth is usually different between flora's and fauna’s male sex organs (let’s keep it wholesome on the titillation folks, anthers are not genitalia).  Says the woman who fertilizes her eggplants with a paintbrush because I’m watering for some vegetables dammit, not just leaves!  At the end of round six all the teams were in the same ranks as they’d been in after round three and two teams had already jokered.  Wage Python lay in wait.

FAI – for anyone interested?  No… I don’t think that was it.

Round seven? Screw it, let’s skip ahead.  Round eight brought the upset.  The third place team jokered and outstripped the rest.  It was a remarkable victory, even tho Sweep the Yankees really knew their oatmeal.

FAI – forget about it!

As a QuizMaster. I get a fun change up in my sleepy Sacramento days.  I get to know a bunch of new people in the area and learn all kinds of fun facts while at it!

Tonight, tonight, there were only two tonight until late where there were all of three.  Ok, now read the previous sentence again, but this time sing it to the Sondheim tune.  Great.  Tonight’s turn out was a trifle disappointing, when I started, there was only one team present, and I couldn’t coax the other table to join in the fun.  So, the guys split and it was every man for himself.  Which was fine by me.

Tonight’s game went swiftly as components of the sound equipment were missing because the bar has just changed over its system.  So now I sound great, but had no hook up for audio rounds – so we did without.  Which was fine, because we had plenty of wtty repartee (read: backchat).

Apparently I say ‘president’ like ‘precedent’ instead of like ‘prezzident’.  I took some teasing for it, but embraced the more casual pronunciation rather than using my best NPR voice.  Next they’ll want me to say nukular.  How did W think that was spelled?  It’s NUCLEAR dude.  Anyway, as Biden landed some good bell-ringin’ blows to blue-eyed Ryan we described past prezzidents like it was opposite day.  And there’s no period after the S, it’s Harry S Truman.  It’s not an initial, it’s the whole thing!  But in fairness, I do understand the confusion, because iin his own signature, he uses a period after the S.  Far be it from me to quibble with the man himself… but really, there shouldn’t be a period.  Just saying.

Round one seemed to get things off to a good start with some high scores and good laughs.  I like this additional format for round three, it’s something different and challenging.  One team took me up on the three clues for two points, and the other chose to go five for one.  They ended up scoring about the same, but as the three-for-two guy heard the last two clues, I could hear his groans.  We had a good laugh over the visual round, because the only celebrity spouse everyone knew was Anna Nicole Smith’s octogenarian with his big, motor boating smile.  Round six’s questions on sin were pretty tame though.  If you’re gonna do a round on sin, let’s make them salacious, not Antonio and Melanie.  Best laugh of the night tho: Giant Raider suggested Angelina had done a sex scene with Danny DaVito in Original Sin.  I mean no disrespect to Mr. DaVito, but I would appreciate a purgative for that mental picture.  Oy veh!

Finally, round eight, which all teams jokered.  Despite missing the first three rounds, Richard still came out only one point behind the prize winner.  We had a great time tonight, I could have everyone gather ‘round to hear the answers instead of reading them into the mic, and we sat and chatted about politics, clocks, helicopters and football jerseys afterwards.  “It’s the same jersey, made with the same material, the same fabric, the same factory in China, the same pattern, the same seven-year-old, it just doesn’t pay the licensing to the NFL.”  Classic.

Happy 10 - 11 - 12 everybody!
