Woot!
We had a hoot last night at The Chesterfield.
Let's start before we got started. After a couple of weeks of frustratingly bad pictures, I finally broke down and bought a new camera.
No more laser eyes from iPhone pictures. No more non-flash picture from that crazy camera that works everywhere except at the quizzes. No more excuses.
Speaking of excuses, after my little Round 8 pep talk, no one has any excuse to not go out there into the world and live their dreams.
What am I talking about?
The recently deceased Phyllis Diller. That’s what.
Why?
I'll tell you, Ms. Diller, a name that is all but unknown to the under-40 crowd, is an inspiration to anyone who is living an unfulfilling life and dreams of something bigger. At the age of 37, after having 6 children, she started a stand-up career. In 1955, she performed at the legendary Purple Onion and stayed for 87 weeks. Then went on to be a comic legend for nearly 40 years.
Maybe that doesn't mean much to some of you, but I will tell you this: to stop being a housewife in the mid-50s and start doing stand-up IS a big deal.
So here's to you, Ms. Diller. Your jokes might have been bad, and you certainly were a ham...but you helped to pave the way for female comics, and for that we are all forever in your debt.

Hmmmm…I think that's it for the blog this week. It's beautiful outside, and I'm going to go play in the dirt.
Hot Sax won the night and...
