This week's quiz was what we'd call an “intimate group” of quizzers. Which is not to say we were sharing appetizers over candlelight... No, I just mean that we only had six teams. Conspicuously absent was the West Coast Dong, our out-of-state quiz ringers. Their loss.
And their loss is your gain. They'd dominated the 1st place slot for the two weeks they've been around, and with them gone, it leaves a power vacuum.
And who will step into that power vacuum?
Bane! Heir to the leadership of the League of Shadows!
You merely adopted the quiz. He was born into the quiz. Molded by it.
No, that's not true. This ain't Gotham. I've met the Batman, and you sir are no Batman.
That's not true either. Well, the part about you not being Batman is true.
It is true, right?
It's just, if you are, you probably have a spare motorcycle sitting around, right? I mean, who the hell needs so many motorcycles?
Unless you're Jay Leno.
You're not Jay Leno.
...are you?
You SEE what kind of havoc a power vacuum can wreak? Blogs stop making sense, and not in an appealing Talking Heads kind of way! In a BAD way!
Chaos reigned. You discovered that the text-displaying TVs were a tool for the proletariat to fuck with the quizmaster anonymously and consequence-free. It broke my heart a little. Except for the ones that were talking about how hot I was. Those broke my pants a little.
With West Coast Dong out of the way, Good Game Players didn't know what to do with themselves. They were going strong, but their poor little hearts gave out on our visual round on the elements. They were never the same after that, and wound up taking 3rd.
Hamburger Gary knew their elements (well, knew a few of them), but failed us when it came to Third Rail Issues, so they wound up in 2nd.
And Ka-Tet got perfect scores on rounds 4 and 7, not to mention a killer 14 points on R8. That, my friends, is how you achieve a 6-point lead of your fellow quizzers.
Next week, drag your friends along! Make sure there's some real competition. Just make sure they're slightly dumber than you so you can still win.
See you then!
