Holy Shit!!! As promised we had a barn burner at Dublin's this evening! We had Birfdays, Anne of Green Gables, Dynamic Duos and even Awesom-O-Matic 5000 were all in the house this evening. A total of 14 teams competing for the coveted title of "Princes/Princesses of the Geek Universe" and they did not disappoint.
A recap of our rounds this fine evening:
Round 1 was a round on appetizers and it was delicious. I have never had Frank's hot sauce, but that would be an awesome road trip to go to Buffalo and try them out! Maybe we can have a traveling Geeks Who Drink Month and we can all go on a field trip! And all I have to say is "MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! pot stickers!"
Round 2 were songs of the season and the guesses for the NKOTB song were hysterical! Also, pretty stoked that Coheed and Cambria are coming to Albuquerque in the fall.
Round 3 was a speed round on sports teams. I will leave it at that. I am one of the few quizlings that enjoys sports questions.
Round 4 was the Entree round. I hope I get invited to Kent's Cotillion! I think it would be fun. Arcade Fire was proclaimed by Rolling Stone that their debut album was in the top 150 best albums of all time. I still have not heard a song from them........ am I missing out?
Round 5 visual round was the man Rick Moranis! Yes he is a dork, but he has been in some pretty funny shit. Strange Brew is classic.
Round 6 was about Deserts and I still have no idea what a Bactrian Camel is, but kudos to the team that nailed it!
Round 7 was the other audio round and my apologies for initally fucking up the rules of our double or nothing round. I know, "Inconcievable" that I would do that, but we all survived and luckily our teams got it all figured out and we survived!
Round 8 taught us what is in a red-eye (be glad they didn't ask what is in a brown-eye!), that Frances Ford Loren was not a right answer and never poop while dinosaurs or boxers looking for their watches are running amock!
Happy Birthday to quizling Mary! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Thanks to Kent for coming out and giving a lesson on "Sound Check 101".
What will next week hold for our quizlings? Will the after-glow that Anne of Green Gables experienced tonight wear off? Will Birfday in da House rebound and grab the title? Will Awesom-O-Matic 5000 show up on time? Will some strangers from the future come and blow them all away? I cannot predict who will walk away with the title, but I know we will be downing beers and grubbing on fantastic food while trying to kick the "quiz" out of each other!
Had a blast! See you next week, 8 pm sharp
