Ken (Snarky Shark)

Hi Everyone,

This is Ken "Snarky Shark" Lindsay! I'm the current host of the GeeksWhoDrink Pubquiz over at the Blarney Stone, in downtown Seattle!

As for me, I'm pretty much a Seattlite. Sure, I've lived in California, Arizona, Washington, Idaho, but I definitely call this place my home. I dig the grunge scene and like the local legends Pearl Jam and Nirvana. However, I also dig a decent Irish jig (a shout out to Gaelic Storm, who do not visit Seattle enough!) , so the Blarney Stone has been ideal for me.

I got this gig to replace (impossible, I say!) Gentleman Johnny, the previous quizmaster, who happens to be a close friend of mine in real life! who would have thought? Personally, I dig science questions. Why? Well, in real life <le sigh> I'm a graduate student in the department of Biochemistry in the University of Washington. So, mixing pleasures is always fun. (Shaken not stirred, thankyouverymuch.)

I really enjoy the regular players, with their funny quirks, and the hopeful glean in the eyes of the newbies, who think they can win. (How quickly those hopes are shattered...) I'm always down for a pint with a friendly face, so if you ever want to talk, just let me know!

As for the moniker, "Snarky Shark", just wait until you are at the other end of the quiz. Don't know the answer? Oh, I'll know, I can smell the blood in the water...

April 22nd, 2013 - The Blarney Stone
I was curious to see how this round was going to go. Ya'know considering the folks at the Blarney Stone.

"Grope-y"

Now how about that Quiz?

They did spectacularly well on Round 1:

Ma'am a gram: Anagrams of famouswomen's names.

and The Visual round on Loose Canons, famous saints.

However, they have their faults...

Round 7: Audio Round on People Quitting, resigning, etc.

&

Random knowledge

Must they hurt me so? We've gone over random knowledge soooo many times! You would think they'd have learned it by now!
What will Seattle do with all this Sun? Will the geeks break-out the sun-screen to brave the well-litstreets? One way to find out: Next week! At the Blarney Stone!-Snarky shark

Tonight the Blarney Stone started out fairly quiet, but with 5 minutes to quiz, we had a decent turnout.

And not a single Boston Marathon themed quiz name.

I'm starting to wonder about this lot.
How did they do?

Well, I'd say they can find their way around:

Southeast Asian Geography & Opera.

Yes, they did well at the opera round, despite their protests.
Can't know that much about something and still hate it, now can you.
Hmm. Check that.
Familiarity breeds contempt...

What about what they suck at:

Names of Sports Teams that move around too frequently.

&

Movies in which animal names are rudely interrupted by a cow.

I can hardly blame them for that last one.
What lies in store for the Blarney Stone? Will they manage to gets past the April Showers? (Amongst the other odd bits of weather we seem to be having...)Or will they triumph to rise to fourth place, like the optimists they are?

Only one way to find out: Next Week! At the Blarney Stone!

April 8th, 2013 - The Blarney Stone
Tonight, I made good on a promise made long ago.

A promise to deliver: Porn.

Yes, others said that they desired porn in addition to the internet bonus question, but alas, the folks at GWD are unparalleled in their delivery of unadultered, spam-free, Geekswhodrink goodness.

Which meant that I had to fill that gap. <pun fully intented>

Only those at the Blarney Stone will know what they received. But I shall always remember them, bouncing off into the night. giggling. maniacally.

Those perverts in the mist.

Seriously, though. How do they do at quiz?

Well, they seem tho know their way around:

Round 1: La la la in which the answer started with that syllable.

&

Round 5: Visual Round on famous celebrities that were slimed on Nickleodeon.

However, they were unprepared for:

Audio round on Bad English

&

Round 3: Sports involving balls.

The innuendo on that last bit is just too easy. I'll leave it be.

Will the Blarney Stone manage to salvage some more classy double entendre? Or will they simply be left speechless? and What shall I do about my classic Internet Bonus Question Routine?
All this. And more! Can be found!

Next week! At the Blarney Stone!
