Alright you guys, I have to share this with you because it was one of the coolest things to happen to me ever. Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Refused at the Ogden Theatre in Denver. (For those of you who don't know who Refused is, please see my fangirling homework at the end of this entry.) Refused broke up in 1998, which was about four years before I even started listening to them, so I was pretty sure that I was never going to get to see them in concert. BUT NO, last night I got to see them live. I must say for a couple of Swedish dudes in their 40s, they were looking pretty great. I think it's a Swedish thing. They manufacture cheap modern furniture you put together yourself and hot dudes. Please see: Alexander Skarsgard for reference. Anyway, it's something I can scratch off of the "this will never happen in my lifetime" bucket list. Which is pretty cool! Next on the list? See Queen in concert... with Freddie Mercury at the helm (not the bullshit replacement singer). DREAMS DO COME TRUE YOU GUYS! IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!!
Now on to quiz...Something extremely eventful happened this evening. During our break after round 7 one of the tables started yelling and clapping and making a ruckus in general. So obviously, I and the rest of the bar was really interested in what was happening. So I peeked my head out into the parking lot and lo-and-behold there is a little boy busting out some Michael Jackson moves. Mind you, there is no music playing, he's just dancing away while his parents were talking and "since they'd seen him do it before" didn't seem all that interested. Well, because I decided that he was too awesome to not have music, we were able to play the speakers out the front of the venue and I put Thriller on. No fucking joke this kid knew the ENTIRE dance from start to finish. It may have been the most incredible thing that I have seen in a long time. So after he was done I went over and asked him and his mom some questions. His name is Dillon Kirkpatrick, he is 13 and he is a bad ass. I also asked if he would take a photo with me, because I was fangirling this little boy a bit...(see photo below)
Oh and his mom and she said she would bring him back another night to dance for all of us! I will be sure to take video next time!
Okay, enough of my inappropriate love for the little Michael Jackson child...but I will probably be listening to Michael Jackson for the next few days.
On to your fangirling homework. Proceed with caution, because if you were never into punk rock or "hardcore" music at any point in your life you will most likely not be entirely interested in further information about this band. But I will send you to watch this video and if you want to hear more, then I suggest you listen to the album it came from which is called The Shape of Punk To Come.
YOU'RE WELCOME. However, I'm not going to be responsible for the possibly and likely depression you will enter if you fall in love with Refused and then realize that you missed possibly the only opportunity you would have to see them live. :)
Alright guys...I think that's enough for tonight! Go listen to some Refused and MJ! Until next time...
