Quiz Schedule
Monday nights, 8:00pm at Saint Rocke!
Shadan (shadude (the long winded Persian))

A geek of many sorts:

a space geek - believe it or not, I really am a rocket scientist

a music geek - used to be a DJ at my college radio station

a concert geek - live music rocks! (pun intended)

a live theatre geek - it's just a better value than the going to the cinema at this point

a musical theatre geek -more than an straight man rightfully should be

a political geek - it's a much better bloodsport than the MMA

a pop culture geek - grew up as a latch-key child, so TV was my babysitter

a bike geek - Orbea Orca with Campy Record-11 (if you know what that is, then you're a bike geek, too)

When I saw the question about what does Dora always have with her, I made a bet that at least one team would write something sexually inappropriate. Yeah, it's nice to know the level of your room - my Geeks never disappoint!

Week 4 of our MNF/GWD season is in the books. And what started as a good football game didn't even as won (as one of our team names attests). But at least the GWD competition was good with 4 points separating 1st from 5th.

The quiz started off well with Round 1's "Yes/No/Maybe." GWD veterans knew that if "Yes," "No," or "Maybe" was not in the question, then it's probably in the answer. So even if you don't know who the eff Jon Anderson and Chris Squire are or which classic rock band they founded (which is "Yes"), you don't want to be guessing "Yardbirds." And also GWD nooks learned the hard way why we don't want people shouting out answers. Odds are the answer being shouted out is wrong (as was the case when people thought that chef Anthony Bourdain's show "No Reservations" was on the Food Network - it's the Travel Channel)…..so you're only hurting yourself by listening to the peanut gallery (you see, clever GWD players will intentionally shout out the wrong answer - tsk tsk).

Round 2 gave us heavenly cover versions of our fave rock sounds from God's own personal cover band, Apologetix. Yes Virginia, they really do exist. (http://www.apologetix.com/)

Round 3 was a nice variation of our multiple choice round - we got to play "Hollywood Squares" (GWD style).

Round 4 tested your knowledge of inside Hollywood. And here's where we get our fave wrong answer of the night. For one team, ECU doesn't stand for "Extreme Close Up" (which it does), but rather "Every Character Upchucks". <LOL> Bonus point to them!!!! ;-)

Round 5 gave us caption-less New Yorker cartoons to see how erudite you really are. And with an average score of 6.5 out of 8, my Geeks are either really pretentious or a bunch of dirty stinking cheaters. The jury is still out.

Round 6 asked how well do you know stuff before it was worth knowing.

Round 7 took classic movie quotes are obnoxiously replace a key word wit "PORK CHOP SANDWICHES." Afterwards the kitchen was slammed with requests….but alas, Saint Rocke doesn't serve PORK CHOP SANDWICHES.

And as always, Round 8 was Random Knowledge. And as usual, I exposed my challenges in pronouncing made up words from the world of fantasy games.

Congrats to our winners, Youth in Asia.

Second place to Feel that heat coming from my undercarriage

And third goes to newcomers Quiz'N My Pants (thanks in part to a vicious thumb war against Jet Propulsion Lavatory).

Nicely done by all!
