A geek of many sorts:

• a pop culture geek - grew up as a latch-key child, so TV was my babysitter

• a bike geek - Orbea Orca with Campy Record-11 (if you know what that is, then you're a bike geek, too)

Yeah, you know that Buzz Aldrin is still getting plenty of action because of landing on the Moon. Aw yeah, ladies - he's still got a rocket in his pocket…..he doesn't need any strap-on boosters to get you into orbit. <brown-chicken brown-cow>

As you try to get the image of Buzz Aldrin tappin' some astrotail, let talk about last night a little…..

WOW!!!! Two new records were set last night: 1) the most teams to date at 26; and 2) the most players to date at 125!!!!! Not only was every single seat at Saint Rocke taken, but people were actually waiting for the people who were only there for the opening band to leave. I probably don't say it enough when on stage - you guys are just too awesome!

And what a great night to announced our upcoming changes starting 10 September. Our weekly geekfest will start as close to 8:30pm as possible (pending the end of the Monday Night Football game). And in appreciation to everyone who has made GWD the #1 place to be on Monday nights in all of the franking South Bay, Saint Rocke is giving away a 4-night stay in Hawaii in 10 December. (Details will be coming out in the coming weeks.)

As you can see by the scores, last night was epic. I still remember our very first night of GWD at Saint Rocke back in February (after the Super Bowl). The winning team had a score of 60 - last night a 60 got you 8th place!!!! And what a great recovery from last week's seemingly tougher-than-usual quiz. Way to bring out the smarts, people!!!!!

Sheisse!, still missing their newlyweds, returned to top form. Looks like they'll be getting their gifts from Croatia after all. ;-)

And Fear the Buffalo put a little bit of the fear of the buffalo into Sheisse!. But Sheisse! had just enough bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks to quell the buffalo heat.

Both teams score a perfect Round 2 to separate them from pack. And the Betty Ford All Stars came out of rehab just long enough to make that steady climb from 8th after Round 5 to 6th after Round 7 to 3rd with a strong Round 8.

Homoerotic Volleyball was apparently distracted by the porn music in Round 7 and go down from 3rd to 5th in the end.

And Is that a tic tac in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? learned the hard what not to piss off the GWD Gods. They don't like it when you make mistake your QuizMaster's mighty staff for a tic tac - they stumble from 3rd to 4th in the final round. We call that karma, bitches!

Fave team name of the night: Friends Don't Let Friends Drink and DERIVE (but I have solve multi-variable differential equations for a Klondike Bar)
