Oskar's Kitchen (Uptown/Queen Anne), Tuesdays 8-10 pm
Stephen ()

Oskar's Kitchen hosts the preeminent Tuesday night quiz in ALL of Queen Anne Avenue between Roy and Mercer Streets.  Bar none.

About the quizmaster:

Stephen spent the first 24 years of life in northern Colorado, when a little tech company called Microsoft convinced him to try living in the Pacific Northwest.  After four years, he returned to Denver; but at the end of 2009 another little startup named Amazon lured him back to Seattle, and, as it so happens, he moved into a little place across the street from a place with a Wednesday night pub quiz.

After being a team player for a year and a half, Stephen took the plunge and auditioned for quizmastery.  He currently resides in lower Queen Anne, in a deluxe apartment in the sky-y-y, with his lovely wife Laura and a psycho killer cocker spaniel from hell named Kuno.

There was a rally in Pioneer Square a couple hours before quiz tonight, which meant that Merchant's was jam-packed with rallyers when I started setting up.  But just like peeling back the layers of an onion, the intellectual deadweight started drifting away, leaving us with six fine teams to begin the night.

After our Canadian audio round, two teams fled, and one single-person team elected to focus on the NBA Finals game displayed over the bar ... so our final three stalwarts battled head-to-head for the rest of the evening.

We had a bonus pseudo-team arrive during Round Six.  They wrote answers but did not turn them in.  I figure, it's like auditing a class to see if you're interested in actually attending for REALZ.  Here's hoping they liked what they saw.

Because I'm feeling magnanimous, each of the top three teams gets their own haiku.
