It’s hard to write a blog and not make some mention of the Patriots game going on at the same time as the quiz, so I’ll get it out of the way quickly. This replacement referee situation is horrendous. I mean, the officiating in the NFL wasn’t spectacular to begin with, but at least the real officials knew how to manage a game. This is just becoming a farce.

Anyways, back to the regular quiz write up. Because of the Patriots game last night, we had a condensed Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz at Costello’s Tavern. I omitted the audio rounds to allow for the game to be heard and we pulled it off pretty well. The quiz finished in a three-way tie between Tympanic Tickle!!!, Just Wings, and Stalin Was Misunderstood. We went to one sudden death round and Tickle came out on top while Wings and Stalin remained tied. After continuing on with more sudden death questions, Wings beat out Stalin for the second-place prize.

We had a lot of newbies at the quiz. Please take a moment to sign up for the email list if you haven’t done so already. And thanks to all our returning Geeks. Everyone was treated to a mystery round that was actually about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a round on the eight ivy league schools, a round on the state of Wisconsin, a visual round of movies with giants or giant creatures, a round on high school English books, and of course the random knowledge round.

Tickle and Wings both aced the first round while six teams knew all of the ivy league institutions. Dags & Fykes aced the visual round and Tickle was perfect on the high school reading round. Wings and I Cheat To Lose both got the high score of 12 on the random knowledge round. Thanks to everyone for playing and come back next week for a Pats game-free GWD Pub Quiz.
