The quizzers at Jack’s in Renton are like family to me, and I am a family guy. I take care of my family. When they need help, I am always there. I am the shoulder to cry on and the guy with a shovel ready to dispose of the body. Because of this, I feel obligated to do something. This blog post will be an intervention.
Last night, it is very incredibly possible that we set a record at Jack’s. Our two devout teams that show up and play week after week, even when no one else shows up, once again battled for first. It was a nail-biting photo finish all the way to the end, which resulted in a 15-14 finish. You saw that right. 15 points was our high score. Now, I know this was a rough quiz, but it wasn’t “15 points rough”. I was expecting 40 points. With the use of the joker, it’s incredibly common for teams to score 15 points in a single round. Just to put this in context, teams from other venues would have outscored you by playing just one round.
Now folks, I hope you are reading this (based on last night’s scores, it has been implied that you guys can’t read). I love you, but this can’t go on. People on the outside reading this will get the wrong impression of Renton. We must fix this. What support can I give you? Do you need tutors? I will get them for you. I will buy you all Little Einsteins on DVD. We can overcome this. We can be better. I will hold your hand through this dark and troubling time and we will arise from it like a phoenix from the ashes. Now, here’s a list of places to get started:
1) Amazon makes the Kindle Fire. Because of this, it’s pretty obvious that Amazon isn’t ripping off their design to make a competitor.
2) I was nice to you guys last night. I told you the Co-Ed Killer wasn’t from Washington. This gave you 49 other states to choose from, but one of you still wrote down Washington. I’m not going to lie to you guys, I WANT you to do well.
3) I explain “Before and After” rounds every time we have one. I explain it like 5 times every time. So next time, LISTEN.
Start there, and next week will start over from square one.
