Retail slave by day, I play the role of smart-ass, quiz host in the evening. Lording my intelligence over the quiz peons gives me the strength I need to get through my days. This is about as close as I will get to utilizing my Theatre degree so I'm going to take advantage of this. 

For the second week in a row, we had a record turnout at The Highliner. We had lots of new faces, lots of returning faces and at least one sing-along. If you had told me that the first song I would ever catch players sing along to was Live’s Lightning Crashes I would have been giddy with excitement. Then it actually happened and it made my night. Last night we learned that Geeks Who Drink in Alabama were only recently allowed to buy booze in a 32oz container, we can blame Mississippi for Jimmy Buffett and Shaft is the sex machine to all the chicks. All was smooth sailing until the wave of repeats in round 6 caused me to include the answer to question 6 in my repeat. It was a gimmie point for everyone. Except that one team that got it wrong. More on them in the hall of shame. We also learned how much people hate musicals. Now, let us never speak of R7 again.

Hall of Shame

  • Winner of Pie - For their revisionist history in which Iraq invaded Saudi Arabia in the early 1990’s. And for just going with their gut on the visual round and guess Awesome instead of Radium. Also for drawing a dick for your joke in round 8. Actually, that last one probably makes up for the other two.
  • Roaming Gnomes - I was looking for Bill Withers, not “the black singer my boss likes”
  • Don’t Look at Me - Pretty sure the US doesn’t provide any kind of support for Iran.
  • Senor Moment - You may have won, but how you missed the age at which you get Social Security after I shouted the answer on the mic baffles me. Maybe you were just too good to take the point?
  • RD #8 - If there is a place in the world that is more famously not a country than Tibet, I haven’t found it. Not a great guess for the evil country in the Red Dawn remake.

Despite their inability to take free points when they are offered, Senor Moment went home with the top prize. Smokin’ in the Girls room came in a very close second place. In fact, last night was a great night for a lot of our teams and the standings were very close. Romney Riding High on Paul Ryan’s Oscar Meyer took home the prize for best Paul Ryan name and was awarded lady sized t-shirts.
