I'm where I am when I am. The glamorous life of a sub.

I don't have a favorite color or ice cream but I do hate loud chewers.

This week we had a great quiz, none of whom seemed surprised by the unseasonable weather Syracuse threw at us yet again. I guess it just keeps us on our toes, right? Something Wicker the Way This Comes managed to use their joker to the best of it’s ability this quiz by using it in round two. They almost received a perfect perfect score that round! We also had two new teams to Geeks Who Drink at Nibsy’s which was awesome! They both did really great. Ryan B. got the online bonus this week and was awarded one of the most prestigious awards of the pub quiz community, a unicorn horn. unfortunately it was broken within ten minutes so no picture. On another note a team member brought to the bar old school pictures of himself (refer to picture). Have a great week everyone! I’ll see you when I see you!

Originally from Britain, I came to live in Tasmania in 1980, settling near Launceston, and for the last 9 years have been one of the numerous `skeptics' speaking out publicly against the Global Warming scare, which makes exaggerated claims that the earth will warm by +1.5 to +6 deg. C. due to an enhanced Greenhouse Effect.

Climate and climate change has been a lifelong study of mine since my early days as a ship's officer in the British Merchant Navy.  I have lived through and traced the progress of the `ice age' scare of the 1970's, the `nuclear winter' scare of the 1980s, and now the `global warming' scare of the present.  All these scares have advanced the interests of what was a small academic discipline 30 years ago to become a mammoth global industry today. It is my view that this industry has, through the `politics of fear' which it has promoted, acted against the interests of the public.

I have joined Geeks Who Drink in order use this experience as my platform to spread the truth. Remember, I am smarter than you.

A splendid time was had by all or at least most this week at Nibsys pub. I am glad to see that everyone survived the holidays and the first snowfall. Let's look forward to 'Cuse basketball, increasingly awesome pub quizzes, and getting drunk through the Winter.

"National Treasure, how Nick Cage stole Christmas" took down our grand prize this evening, while extending their winning streak here at the pub. 82 points was pretty impressive and meant they took advantage of RD 3, where we could gamble with points, our geography, and favorite states. "We're not smart, you're just stupid" topped this round in particular with 12 points. Well done with Maryland and Tennessee!

So we realized quickly that playing with trains when we were younger was pretty awesome after all. I mean look at the $hit kids do for fun there days. I am sad that there was not a question incorporated here about the greatest movie you have never seen..."The Station Agent" As strange as this flick is, it is incredible. Rent it.

RD 5, our visual round had us match up Benn and Jerry's classics. All teams but one...who I will absolutely mention (Are you in yet? wait, I already came twice) scored a perfect 8 points here. Mmmm...Ice Cream. Schweddy Balls ladies?

A special shout out to team "Nerf" charging back into the race to claim second place. That was one hell of a run. "We cyber every Monday"...move from your unlucky table. I see you performing much better next week.

Great work folks!! See you soon

Nine teams arrived at Nibsys Pub to compete for bragging rights, or at least to drink heavily and see old friends.

RD 1: 0 to 60 in eight questions proved to be a bit more difficult than anticipated. Each answer was the name of an automobile. "Sandy blew my A hole", "The assassination of...", and "I'm thankful for Alec Lemon" all scored 7 points here. The rest of you pedestrians struggled to find the right auto. I personally think we should start naming hurricanes after cars. It would not be as personal when "Sandy" or Catrina" ruin people's lives. victims might take the warning a little more serious when a cat 3 Cherokee is moving up the coast.

RD 2 Circle jerk. Enough said. okay, the usual artist and title was required in our audio round. We are all better off not hearing anymore Jessica Simpson.

RD 3 Pro sports teams in Florida. Every team scored a perfect 8 this round and it should never be asked again. I do like the idea of building your confidence up early in the quiz by asking such an easy question, only to break you down later in the quiz. The guy that is always yelling "Hey man, ask me a sports question...blah blah". I am glad I could make your day.

RD 8 seemed to be the deciding factor in this week's quiz. "The assassination of Ape Lincoln..." edged out "I'm thankful for Alec Lemon" this week to once again claim the grand prize.

Thank you to all for hanging out with us this week. See you soon. Enjoy this Thanksgiving weekend and eat your faces off. Not in a zombie sort of way, but rather an old fashion American holiday tradition. I hope everyone celebrates what they are thankful for.

Finally, who is going to represent Nibsys Pub at Geek Bowl VII??? Check the website for more information.
