No major disasters and no true misfits showed up, but a good time and free tacos were had. Thank you all for coming out on my first night as Quizmaster . We had a modest and solid turnout of eight teams last night.
Most of the teams used their brains well in the using the brain audio round. Clearly folks have been taking their fish oil and know their music. London was not however calling in the Brit or shit round and the teams were surprised to find out that the English are responsible for both Cats and Dubstep.
Team Schweddy Balls shined on and demonstrated their knowledge of gems in the random knowledge round getting all the birthstones right, propelling them to first place. Jessie Order more Coors Light consisted of only two, but they proved to be mighty and took second place. Only a point behind, Otto Van Bizmarkie showed they were a force to be reckoned with and took third place.
Thank you to Courtney for coming out last night and helping out on my first night. Looking forward to seeing you again at the Pourhouse.
See you all next week at Geeks who Drink!

Hello, ladies and gentlemen!
Quite a motherfucking quiz last night. We ended up with twelve teams overall, comprised of mothers, art handlers, burlesque artists, birthday boys, and computer programmers (and those are just the people *I* came with!).
In case you were one of the unlucky ones who couldn't attend last night's quiz, I have to break the same unfortunate news to you as I did to the group last night: I, Courtney Knight, will be at least temporarily stepping down as your primary quizmaster. I know, I'm gutted about it too. :( I've grown accustomed to your nerdy faces.
But never fear! We have the wonderful Alanna taking over for me, starting next week. She had a great debut last night at VPH, reading rounds 3 and 7, and also accurately scoring all of your rounds. She is pretty rad, so I expect you all to be super awesome and supportive during this time of transition.
Also, you won't get rid of me THAT easily. I'll be back occasionally to sub and even quiz amongst you!
The quiz itself was pretty solid. Many of you showcased your "Cosby Show" knowledge while even more of you demonstrated a shocking familiarity of foreign pop song covers. Round 8...perhaps it's best not to speak of round 8, considering the average score was about a 4...but the rest of it, the rest of it was great!
Third place went to Billy in 4C with 69 points, who were absolutely shocked at their come-from-behind victory. But nonetheless, managed to overcome their surprised and take $20 off of their tab. :D Second place fell into the hands of The Trouble Team with 73 points, and first went to Free Foxy Knoxy, undoubtedly a pop culture reference I don't understand, with 85 points.
You guys, I just want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart for being such a great group. Have a great week, Geeks Who Drink will see you next week.

I had a great time subbing for Courtney tonight at the Village Pourhouse in Hoboken, where these guys really know their Harrison Ford movies! After a rainy day, there was a pretty solid turnout, with 6 teams playing the quiz tonight, and the quiz ended with a tough fight for third place.
The rain or shine round had nothing to do with the weather, but was a bit of a challenge for the teams who were still waterlogged when they arrived. But, the (potentially) 16 point Musical Gangbang round gave the teams a chance to come back, and the competition heated up.
Requiring a strong knowledge of TV personality sign-offs, Good Night and Fuck Off proved to be another strong round for most teams, and in the end it came down to the Random Knowledge round to decide our final ranking. In first place was Schuck It, Trebak!, in second was Schweddy Balls, and Billy In 4C took third after a strong fight.
I hope to return soon to this fun Hoboken venue for another night of trivia with this enthusiastic group!
