What better way to spend International Talk Like a Pirate Day, then to spend it at the Dry Dock Brewing CO! We had only 16 teams in, I guess everyone else was restricted to ship. Still, it was a great quiz, with an exciting end!
Round One was a round on all things short… don't say it! I know I'm short, but it's ok, because I'm also fat. We got the scoring off to a quick start on this one, with monster scores from nearly everyone, including perfects from- Ethnic Junk Punch, Chicken Fried Steak, Jolly Rancher Shiv, Suck it Trebek, Salt & Pepper & Cumin & Paprika, Handful of Stephen, Scrub My Poopdeck, Tip Your Bartenders, Spent Fools, TBD, and Panda Porn Stars.
Our first audio round was in honor of the aforementioned International Talk Like a Pirate Day. We listened to pirate-y versions of pop songs, and they were great! Fun stuff, and some decent scores and well used jokers.
We had a new Round Three last night- a variation on the old Stop round. It was worth 16 points though, so that was exciting! I gave you three clues to Oscar winning films and you had to gamble on your answers. If you weren't the gaming type, I gave you two more clues. Most of you went for the brass ring!
Round Four was a fun one on fictional world leaders. Some of my favorite things were included! Dr. Strangleove, Beowulf, Charlie Chaplin and Canadian Bacon! I should clarify- I like the film Canadian Bacon, but I'm much more fond of the meat product.
Our visual was a round science geeks live for! Cell part identification! You did not disappoint- perfect scores from Ethnic Junk Punch, 15 Minutes of Foam, Chicken Fried Steak (we'd expect nothing less- Dr. Jordana), Suck it Trebek, Salt & Pepper & Cumin & Paprika, Handful of Stephen, Scrub My Poopdeck, Spent Fools, Scurvy Wankers, and Date Night Towel.
Round Six was all about the new shows hitting the airwaves… or satellite feed… or cable stream… this Fall. I used to love premiere time! Oh, television of my youth, where have you gone! Apparently there was a spoiler in there somewhere, but I missed it, so… Salt & Pepper & Cumin & Paprika got the ace on this one.
Our second audio round was a little different. I played the incredible Miracle Max scene from the incredible film Princess Bride, and then asked a series of questions on it. Awesome! I love that movie and that scene. This is where I usually say, in the end it all Came down to Random Knowledge, but not last night- CHUG OFF!!!
Thanks again quizzlings and we'll see you in two weeks- be nice to my sub, or I'm giving you all detention!
Push the button Frank.
