Folks around these parts know me by a lot of names. Having grown up in Seattle I went by Cookie during my time playing baseball. Also had the nickname Nature Boy at summer camp, and in high school Spanish class I was Diablo. Along with my many names come many talents. I was the state pickleball champion two years in a row (2005-2006) and have a pretty mean drinking arm when it comes to bar games. Try your luck and challenge me to some pool if you feel lucky. Am a passionate world traveler with plenty of plans to keep moving along in the future. Currently enjoying life and laying it all on the line Monday night at the Blue Star Cafe & Pub.

 

 

 

 

On my way to the Blue Star I already knew that it was going to be a great evening. There was a birthday party to attend for one of the great members of the Blue Star Staff after the festivities of pub quiz were done and I once again was looking forward to hosting Pub Quiz. What I didn’t expect was the delightful surprise of Jeff joining me for the night. Jeff, or as many of you may now know him as, “Jeff the Heckler” was a welcomed addition to the Blue Star experience as he brought with him a cloud of self-confidence and respectability. Then of course he opened his mouth.

Several mistakes were made throughout the quiz the foremost being that many teams seemed to confuse the United States declaring war on Japan as MLK’s “I Have a Dream” Speech. While this may sound silly it does pay to remember that this was all being given under the soundtrack of some hot heavy breathing action. As always at the Blue Star Café & Pub we had a tight race with a tiebreaker determining second and third.

Hakujin had stepped down and maintained their seven person time while of course enjoying the night with everyone else. A few teams thought they could butter up the quiz master with some compliments; however We love Colin… was unable to break through to the top of the rankings despite a large amount of explosive energy when it came to Gossip Girl and misspelled words. Salmonellyin the end took home the coveted first place prize and with it all our admiration and envy.

You can’t get pregnant by a legitimate grape saw their way into the tied spot for second place with Yay! Rachel’s back is back. This second team name needs some explanation as some may not know that Rachel was gone for a little while. We are super happy that she is back happy and healthy and are looking forward to seeing her back from now on. It should also be said that we had some new guests in Seattle with What’s our name again having a brand new visitor to the fair city of Seattle. We gave both Rachel and our new city guests a warm welcome and of course a night of excellent Bar Quiz.

With a night of karaoke, Pub Quiz Hosting, and an overall jolly good time I finally finish this blog post with a bit of advice given to us by Steven Wright.
