Wednesdays at 8:00, The Lion and Rose - Forum
Sarah Loyd (Quizmistress Sarah)

I was born and raised in Texas, love the pursuit of useless knowledge and a well-aimed pun. I'm married to a local media superstar and have the most adorable kid in the world (seriously, it's not even a contest). I'm also a bit of a beer snob and was on a team that tied for 84th at Geek Bowl VI (Team Do You Like My Sweater?). And I dress like a colorblind four-year-old.

A great night tonight, with sixteen teams starting the night (although one dropped out to take their noise to the patio, much to the delight of EVERYONE in the vicinity of the dungeon) and some great scores (as well as some dismal ones... we'll get to that).

Seriously, though, those audio rounds made my ears bleed. I don't know which one was worse - Round 2's Peppin' Up The Oldies with the Portsmouth Sinfonia covering some of the top hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s or Round 7's Epic Sax Scenes, in which we were all repeatedly saxrolled by that dude from Moldova. Again - I am sorry. (Just think - I got to listen to all of those clips four or five times!)

Nearly everybody got screwed when I said Richard Dawson (may he rest) in Round 3 - Say When: Game Shows. Everyone was so sure the answer would be Family Feud! Things weren't much better in Round 4 - Dear Diary: Things Are Still Fucked Up. But you did have some great (wrong) answers. No, Shakespeare did not write Bend It Like Beckham. No, Winston's girlfriend in 1984 was not Floozybot 9000. No, Christian Bale did not star in Geeks Who Eat Dogs. But you did make me laugh out loud.

Lots of aces on Round 5, tonight's visual round on flower identification (no, really). Great job. Your grandmothers would be proud - now give her a call.

Mixed bag on a tough Round 6 - Quizzism. I'm impressed with your medical and philosophical knowledge, and also impressed at how many of you don't know ICP songs. Phew. Rounding out the night was a difficult round 8 that tested your knowledge on everything from geology to Taco Bell taco shell types.

And in the end, Nos Venit, Nos Bibit, Nos Vicit took the top spot once again, followed by Team Venture and Beer Make Smart in a tie for 2nd. Venture walked away with the $15 after coming up with the closest answer in our tiebreaker. (Man, Alaska can hold a lot of Rhode Islands. But why would they want to?)

Thanks to all who played tonight, and congrats to email bonus winner Alan from Nos Venit. Be sure to like the Facebook page for more shenanigans throughout the week!
