There isn't much more that you need to know other than that I'm totally awesome.

I hail from the lovely city of Rio Rancho in New Mexico and have spent the last four years soaking in the joy of the east coast in New York and Boston. (Go Yankees!)

I now live in Denver. I teach middle school math, which sounds lame, but is honestly the one of the funnest jobs you can have (and yeah, I used the word funnest). I'm quickly becoming an established Denverite, most noticeably in my development of an affinity for good beer and bike riding.

If I can promise you anything from my quiz, it's that you'll hear some great music and most assuredly see or hear something surprising. 

Not that I'm the biggest NBA fan or anything, but man did that Pacers Heat game suck at the end.  Yes, it was actually a good game, but if the bad guy's going to win, I'd really rather them just win from the beginning rather than give me a little hope.  The quiz took a few pauses for the exciting moments of the game, but we managed through.

I'm already really loving the Pioneer.  The regulars are so friendly!  Two of the main players happened to be absent tonight, but their teams were still representing well.  

After a perfect round three of naming cities from their train stops, Never Nude seemed to be headed for victory but ended in the three spot.  I really wish they could have gotten bonus points for naming the train lines for each city as well, but such is life.  Second place went to Illusions, Michael! (formerly the Channel Four News Team.)  They put in a great effort but just couldn't top Caged Wisdom for that top seed.  They managed near perfect rounds 3 and 8 to solidify their lead.  If only they knew how to spell hemerrhoid correctly...

The Mexican food was exquisite and the rum and cokes were flowin.  Another splendid night at The Pioneer :-)

For a first night at The Pioneer, the quiz wasn't half bad.

I have to say, for a girl who's gotten around in the quiz world...the folks at The Pioneer aren't half bad (consider that as you will.)  I can't get enough of a place where people love my music as much as I do.  My highlight had to be the Four Non Blondes sing along to "What's Going On."  

With some excellent round 2 jokers on a less than super tough music round The Channel Four News Team and Spanish Language News, Bitches! took the one and two spot early and didn't fall out of there for the remainder of the game. (which made for some awesome reading of scores, thanks to Anchorman).  The rest of our teams who stuck it till the end made decent showings alos...except for in the reddit round.  Apparently the real Reddits are more ridiculous than the made up ones...which is concerning.  My favorite team name of the night was from Sphincter of Life: Free the IRS Guy who also wrote quite a dignified note to inform me of their "resignation" from the game.  It's nice to see some stand-up political folks out and about :-)

In the end. The Spanish News Bitches managed to inch away from Ron and the rest of the news team.  We shall see how next week goes.

Wednesdays at The Pioneer. 8pm. 		Blake (Killer B)
I'm Blake Ritchen and I became a Quiz Master for the power. Nowhere else in my life can I tell people not to fuck with me so calmly or without chance of altercation. As a substitute teacher I'm supposed to stay away from words like that, though from the number of elementary students who've told me I look like the guy from The Hangover I'm going to assume they've heard that and worse. The power is intoxicating. I get to choose what music you listen to, what prize to award for the email bonus question (from the prizes given to me to award), and in which inflection I will read each question. I also get to drink for free, meet new people, tell jokes, yada, yada, I'm boring myself.
I have spent more and and more time recently with my new best friend, Netflix. If you dropped your Netflix plan over their failed summer business plans you're nuts. Why don't you just move to western Pakistan because the IRS was a week late on your tax return? Seriously, it's amazing and has made me much happier than any real person in my life ever could. I've prepared for the zombie apocalypse with The Walking Dead, a life in menial jobs with The Office and Party Down, and there's a movie where nun's get totally naked. Get a friend Netflix for the holidays or a birthday, or just give them your password so you don't have to spend another eight dollars a month.
I teach, I quiz, I master, I bait fish hooks when I visit my grandfather in Minnesota, I read but have recently just been waiting for the movie to come out, and I've lived in Denver my whole life. I also work at a sports bar and basically have the job of changing channels for people, an easy enough job most days but it has made the target of many a crazed sports fan who is unwilling to turn his head at all to watch his game. Still, I love it, and like I said at the start, I like having the power.

Well, I guess this is goodbye but what a great night it was. My co-host and replacement Shelly was great and I feel very confident leaving the Pioneer in her hands. Try to treat her with more respect than you did me. 

The quiz ran pretty smoothly other than the fact that all my audio rounds disappeared so as I scrambled to find them Shelly went ahead with round 3. Awesome! We didn't lose a step and even if we had, it was my last night and you guys were very forgiving. Also many of you bought me shots of tequila which was too kind and very awesome. I loved them. By the way, tequila shots are great with an orange slice instead of a lemon. Coors Light also isn't half bad with an orange peel in it.
The biggest and greatest moment of the quiz, maybe my entire life, was when I asked a random bonus question about a Denver Broncos player and he was fucking in the back playing pool! What!!! That was amazing. I'm not mentioning his name because I don't want people staking out the Pioneer looking for him but you all should go to the Pioneer even if professional athletes don't go there.
You quiz players have been amazing, the Pioneer is wonderful and I couldn't ask for a better place to host or a more fun job. Thank you all so so much and if you're in Grand Teton National Park this summer be sure to stop by Colter Bay and see if I'm around. Other than that make sure and keep going to the Pioneer and I hear construction will start soon on their patio expansion so that should be amazing.
