I think I almost DID ship my pants! Not really, but it is fun to say. Last night, proved to be another crazy night of Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz. We had a lot of new teams, with exciting quiz and sports fans aligned! As Boston and New York battled it out during an exciting hockey game, the quiz was well on its way after the second period of the game. Team: "Boys Night Out" showed up again, which made me very happy. I tell ya, that kid brings a smile to my face every time he approaches the table for bonus questions. Who wouldn't love his dedication to the quiz?!?
Round 7 did make people want to ship, I mean shit their pants. It was toughy for sure, with very low scores. Clearly TIVO, has erased people's commercial intake. Nonetheless, there were a few teams that knew that "pants shipping" was an ad created by Kmart and not Fed Ex. There were many moans and groans for this round that's for sure.
I'm glad Team: Ok, Just One More, did decide to stay for...JUST ONE MORE! They were the big first place winners last night. Way to be peer-pressured with quiz dedication ladies! You all are great! "Morally Bankrupt" rounded the corner with a second place win as well. Several peeps cut their losses as the rounds got tougher, but everyone left with a smile on their face which made me happy too. I was glad to see my loyal "Cobras!" show up as well, who made their bad ass snake hiss cheers throughout the game!
All in all, it was once again another exciting night of ye olde quiz! We hope to see you next week. Brush up on your commercials in the meantime, and listen to more musical duets from the 80's people!

"I'm coming out. I want the The Elm to know. This is the best quiz show!" Clearly, everyone was singing that diddy on the way to the bar.
HOLY PUB QUIZ BATMAN!! Fourteen teams showed up last night at The Elm. FOUR-TEEN! Did you hear me???? FOOURRRTEEENNNN!!!! My mind was blown! There was A LOT of love in the room last night, and I was super stoked about the turn-out! I saw a lot of familiar faces, as well as newbies! The most adorable young man was there, who was the most curtious player to date. Your parents taught you well son. "Always be polite to the quiz master, and ALWAYS compete for the free beer bonus questions...no matter how old you are!"
I'd say the toughest round of the night was definitley the Muhammeds & Alis round. That round had the lowest scores, although I did appreciate one team who chose to write down "Megan is Pretty", for a marjority of their answers. Thanks guys, I'm still blushing. Speaking of blushing, Team: It's A Goose answered the email question correctly, and walked away with "Gay Accent Breath Spray." You'd think they would have been embarrassed, but luckily they are just as cool as I had suspected. They held that prize up loud and proud! I'm proud to say, that the 80's pop station is still a huge hit, and the ENTIRE BAR got really amped when the song "Turn Around" came on! The instant singing was quite amusing to say the very least.
Team: "Mr. Bastard", went in for a major game upset last night. They "Turned Around", and won when nobody was looking. This team was definitely proof that using your joker strategically, can help immensely. Well done "Mr. Bastard!" Well...DONE! Last night was a HUGE success, and I am still grinning from ear to ear about the turn out! You all are FUCKING AMAZING!!!! A big shout out goes to Erin, Dave, and Maggie who worked their asses off last night, and gave great service as always! I love you guys!
Check us out at The Elm next week for more drinkng, debauchery, and damn good times!

Things got a little crazy last night at The Elm! The competition was high, as beers and brainiacs participated in the Tuesday night quiz. My 80's Pop Pandora Station, still continues to be a crowd pleaser, although the audio rounds were a bit of a challenge.
Much to my surprise, no one broke the rule when the "Reading Rainbow" question was played in Round 7. It's hard NOT to sing along to that tune. Mostly everyone did a good job on the Karaoke questions in round two, although figuring out Garth Brook's famous song was a little tough on some teams.
The most exciting part of the night was determining the overall First Place Winner, as there was a serious tie between the "Cobras", and "Ok Just One More." We had to go into a sudden death round which was quite exciting! "Ok Just One More" came out on top, answering the most questions right, and gave out HUGE cheers of joy over their win. Well done ladies!
Speaking of ladies, everyone seemed to be a bit shocked over the answer for the book title involving two identical twins who went to high school together. Even though the answer was "Sweet Valley High", I thought writing down "The Babysitter's Club" definitey deserved an honorable and nostalgic mention.
It was a definite battle of the brains last night, but luckily no one got hurt...physically that is. Once again, it was a blast, and I look forward to seeing all my new and old geeks next week at The Elm!
