Let me start off by saying that an entire round on Lite FM-type songs is a form of cruel and unusual punishment. Then let me say that I was shocked at how many teams knew the answers. I realize that we've got gift certificates on the line here, but I think even if I knew those answers, I wouldn't admit it. In fact, I might go so far as to accusing someone of being a liar if they claimed I did. Granted, that's just me.
Aside from the torture that is Phil Collins, it was another great night at Jonsey's last night, with many teams, plenty of fries and Mama's Little Yellow Pils making an appearance on draft. So at least there was a good amount of happy hour beer to drown out Rod Stewart.
Things started off smoothly with an interesting new round format. Teams proved to be great at the Celebrity Game and with each answer giving a hint to the next, the round created a virtuous circle that lead to many high scores.
Rounds 2 and 3 were a little tougher, since 2 threatened to make your ears bleed and 3, well, lets just say that UNESCO is not a widely known organization at Jonsey's. But that was fine because as one player yelled out at the beginning of Round 4, some people know a lot about Weed. I'm not sure he was on the right track for the round, but I'm sure he was having a good time.
I think everyone was a little surprised by Round 6, because while everyone did relatively well, some players were not comfortable admitting Eli Manning has a girls name and others isn't believe Evelyn Waugh was a real person. Round 6 also delivered our best Bonus question, as we cycled through the calendar in desperate search of a month that rhymes with "dry".
By the end Vatican Rappers had edged into first, with Hard Pore Corn in second and Sharts and Crafts in third. Well played by all… unless of course you won by guessing John Tesh. There's no excuse for that.
