Quiz Schedule
Thursday - 8pm - Old Chicago, Colorado Springs
Derek Knight (MechaQuizmaster)

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Derek Knight is a not-so-accomplished cartoonist, graphic artist, former radio D-Double-E J-A-Y, amateur hack standup comedian, public address announcer, magician, voiceover artist, raconteur, gadlfy and man-about-town who also has the good fortune to be a Geeks Who Drink Quizmaster. Considerably more "drink" than "geek" (holy crap, you should see his liquor cabinet), Derek's hobbies include hyperbole, profanity, playing hockey, COLLECTING AND WEARING ALL THE THINGS, engaging in evil, cyberstalking, not following rules and enjoying the hell out of being a dad.

So let's talk about "a couple" vs "a few" vs "a handful." In MY world (and for all intents and purposes since you're reading MY blog, it's the only world that we give a shit about right now) a couple is two, a few is three, some is four, several is six or seven, a bunch is eight, a lot is nine, a shitload is ten...You get the idea. I REQUIRE MEASURABLE EQUIVALENTS for any colloquialism and I SHANT BUDGE ON THIS STANDARD. granted, I've heard some poor, misguided saps say (out loud, even) that "a handful" could vary based on the size of someone's hand or that "several" could be any number someone might casually choose BUT NO! Goddammit, NO! Since we're using MY (insane) world view as the basis for this exercise here, we shall be utilizing my guidelines as outlined above. Ready to implement that in a really real world blog situation? Good, so am I. Let's try it.

So we had ourselves quite the big quiz at Old Chicago in the Springs on Thursday. HOW BIG? Well, in excess of a SHITLOAD of teams answered a METRIC FUCKTON of questions over the course of A BUNCH of rounds to win A HANDFUL of prizes. I should also mention that we had some great extra pageantry along with both pomp AND circumstance all because we've been quizzing at Old Chicago for A COUPLE of years.

ok, wait. That...That last part doesn't exactly convey the excitement as well as I'd like...Hmmm...

We've made it TWO BIG YEARS, kids! TWO BIG YEARS of hot quiz action at Old Chicago and I, for one,am immeasurably proud to be the 'tarded carnival barker that presides over it. Nineteen big teams threw their big brains in the ring to vie for the power AND the glory. Things started off with a video full of memories, then we PP in the quiz, moved on to a mystery audio round, a business-related speed round, round 4 covered all the Benedict and/or Arnold bases, in five we ALL had weird boners whether we were capable of it or not, round six: human state-a-pede...you know the drill. Heck, you should also know that right about here is where I break out in Haiku...So here goes.

Confederacy
They had TWO capitals, right?
you picked the wrong one

Maybe it was us?
Errorogenous zone is
just a made up word

Two years is a while
Here's to making it three
or thirty, that's fine

no cell phones, iphones
anything like that, guys. just
use your damn headmeats

We had quite the battle for the top three slots on Thursday. When all the quiz-dust settled, Fire Breathing Seahorse found themselves back in the saddle and in third, Flippin' Hamburgers (champeens of the inaugural AND the year quizaversary) were in second and S-Dub-Yas ended up as the champeens of the two year quizaversary quiz! Fine work, kids. Also worth mentioning were Abortion Survivors and Moobs Like Jabba, who tied for my favorite team name of the evening. Hell, ALL of you rock, I love you all, thanks very much for making these first two quiz-years kick the ass in a major way and let's start off our third full year of cerebral competition in a HUGE way: we'll see you all (and more) back again NEXT Thursday!
