Drew played Geeks who Drink on the first night it was ever hosted at McCabe's, which was one of the first places it was ever hosted. This means he's been playing quiz longer than about 30,000 people, of which you are probably one. He was promoted to full quizmaster status in February of 2010 after an extensive vetting process which basically involved actually giving a shit, unlike the 20 or so other candidates. He is a fifth-generation engineer and would like to talk with you about Roman history.

Ok, first things first: the sax music from last night's round seven? Apparently that's a somewhat well-known internet meme known as "epic sax guy" or "saxrolling", which derives from an occurence in Moldova's submission to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. You can get the general idea here, and I'll leave it to you to google the full version. If you don't know what Eurovision is, by the way, it's pretty much the best thing ever and you should look into it and spend the next year looking forward to it since this year's installment just took place like two weeks ago. Not that your quizmaster watched it, or anything. By the way, that round owed to one of our Washington State quizmasters, Jon Pio, who runs shit at the Ballard Loft up there. Also, he works for Microsoft. So, if you feel like complaining about it, please do!

Not a whole lot else to report. If you noticed, there was an epic nerd fight on the blog last week, but it somehow didn't spill over too much into tonight. Well, aside from RyAnne following through on naming her team The Royal Whinertons. Surprisingly, too, they ended out of the money, for the first time in a while, and Unitarian Jihad ended up in it. Moreover, this was unambiguous, and did not result in any tiebreaking, fight-precipitating drink-offs like maybe we've seen in the very recent past.

With that, I don't have much else to report. Apologies again for the technical difficulties resulting in no photos from last night. Well, I did get one, but it would appear blatently favoritist to post just that. However favoritist I may be to the team in question. I'll be back next week with working photographic equipment and less saxrolling and all that you've come to expect. See y'all then!
