Watch Out for April Fool’s Pranks!Cap'n Brendan
This is your PSA: April Fool’s Day is this Saturday. I say this as someone who regularly gets pranked, typically first thing in the morning when I roll out of bed and look at my phone to wake up before I’ve had my coffee. I’ll get an e-mail or text, or see something on Facebook, and forget what day it is. I’m actively thinking about it, actively warning you about it, and yet on Saturday it’ll probably still happen. Someone will get me before my brain cells are properly caffeinated.
So don’t let it happen to you. Put up your armor now, and remind yourself to make sure it’s properly fitting on Friday before you go to bed. Put a reminder in your phone (without a noisy notification) for Saturday morning if you have to. Because getting pranked sucks. The one I remember best was a Geeks Who Drink prank on internal staff several years back: First thing in the morning my then-boss e-mailed us all about a new partnership with Cracker Barrel. We were getting shirts mailed to us and he needed my size. At upcoming quizzes we were to pimp out Cracker Barrel like it was our bottom bitch. They were paying us a lot of money, and we needed to earn it.
“Fuck that, we don’t even have a Cracker Barrel in Washington,” I responded in the haze of sleepiness. It was probably more elaborate than that, but for the sake of a short-ish story let’s go with that. “LOL” was the response I got. I fired back “No, seriously, here is a detailed argument for why this would make me look like an asshat to my audience if you make me do this (followed by said argument).” The response was “LOLOL.” Infuriated, I walked away from the thread. And about two hours later I figured it out. “You fucking asshole!” was what he got back.
Don’t be me. Don’t let April Fool’s Day fool you. Be the fooler, not the fool-ee. Anyway, congratulations to tonight’s winners: Appalachian Tendencies, The Black Lungs, and Three Techies and an HVAC Guy. They won prizes for being smart! Or… At least for being smarter than one other team. Come on back next Wednesday and let’s do this again!

Yes it goes on and on my friends
Some people started reading it, not knowing who I was
And they'll just keep on reading it forever just because
