Tonight I Quizmastered for reasons other than the regular catching a buzz and lording ruthlessly over a surly mob. I think it was an excellent change. Tonight there was a nice casual fundraiser for some generous students, faculty and staff at the Iliff School of Theology. It was a fun way to boost a little competition for Super Bowl weekend and benefit some people at the same time.
The winning prize was to determine where the proceeds of the evening's event were donated. The winners, Psycha(delic) Hegemonies have elected to donate the take to Heifer International, which is a group that, among other things, provides dairy goats and other sustained food production animals to help people around the world become more self-reliant. I can get behind that for sure, and I am glad that I could hang out with these cats and kittens and do a little good.
The Agnostics weren't entirely sure that I was the Quizmaster but they went ahead and got third place just in case.
Battlestar Theologica ended in second place with a clear and concise understanding of what was going on, unlike their namesake, Battlestar Galactica. That just ended ina confusing mish-mash. Huh, I could have probably taken advantage of being around students of various philosophies to to try and understand what actually happened to Starbuck in that one episode.
Our winners, Psycha(delic) Hegemonies. You can always tell PhD candidates by the thousand yard stare and the slight edge of terror in everything they do.
I was kind of surprised. Considering they were called the Scribbling Women, their handwriting was quite easy to read. They also seemed to really like the Sugar Hill Gang.
The Temptations were one of the more vocal teams tonight. It is interesting to hang out with theologians. Instead of the average swearing I receive normally, they actually use biblical curses to demand extra points. Wow. Oh well, they will find that my doorway is properly smeared with stuff!
Ah, The Whatchamacallits. I hope your thesis goes over better than your Quiz answers. I guess last place is OK since your heart was in the right place.
Well that was it. Thanks for having me out. I had a good time and kind of enjoyed being the one who was listened to in a chapel-like area.
