Tuesday nights have quickly become my favorite night of the week and I hope it's the same for all you smashing attendees of The Tap Room's version of Geeks Who Drink. This week brought us the best air guitar display I've seen since Risky Business and dance moves that would make Michael Jackson blush. (Insert Michael Jackson skin pigmentation joke here. You know you will.) Overall, it was a very solid night and that largely came from all of you. Bravo.
The introduction for the air guitar-off went well once we got the crowd warmed up. We should have booked an opening act, I think. Still, I think we all rode the Crazy Train pretty smoothly. And it's hard to hate on a Houston Texans cheerleader breaking out moves to Billie Jean, right?
Ninja Survivors brought the goods this week, barely edging out Hot and Thirsty (Not just a name, but a way of life.)for first place. A quick question though, are you ninjas that survived or are you a band of brothers that survived ninja attacks? Hmm, I smell a Michael Bay film! You know you have a good team name when you're making the quizmaster create legendary stories about it.
Hot and Thirsty, your enthusiasm is great. Seriously, one of you said afterward that it was ridiculous how excited you all were for finishing second. I disagree. I think it's ridiculous some other teams aren't as excited as you girls. I told you it was only a matter of time before you cracked the top three. Am I a male version of Miss Cleo? Maybe. I will even keep the Jamaican accent. Yeah, mon!
Cool little side note. Last week we made the Geek in Review, a weekly round-up of the best GWD events written by Geeks Who Drink's very own Eric Kohen. Boo ya! You can read the piece by going to the search icon on the GWD homepage titled The Ballard Loft.
Has Shredded Bits O' Whedon ever finished out of the top 3? I am just saying. They and Muskrat Love always come hard to the game. (Renee, insert your one-liner here. Haha.) Seriously though, it's no coincidence that the teams that consistently show up do the best. Something to chew on for all the statistics fans in the room.
By the way, make sure and add us on Facebook. You can find the main Geeks Who Drink group and The Tap Room page on the site as well. Just search Geeks Who Drink and Geeks Who Drink- San Marcos, and you will find us. And don't be afraid to friend request the other teams or yours truly. We won't bite. Okay, Muskrat Love will... and you will love every last second of it. Twilight ain't got shit on them.
