I've been a Geeks Who Drink quizmaster for almost five years. I was the first to host a quiz outside of Colorado. I work full time for Geeks, editing the weekly Geek In Review column, handling all our e-mail lists, outreach, website, private events and whatever else they tell me to do in exchange for a paycheck to feed my habit of good scotch and good video games.

I'm actually Jewish, not really of viking descent, like the Tim Robbins movie, and met my lovely wife when I offered her extra points on round 8 in exchange for a lifetime of dealing with my child-like tantrums.

Monday night quizzers. The weather may have been crappy, but the love for quiz was stronger. We packed the inside of O'Niell's with dare I use Kent's line... Monday's finest. After a week of other Quizmasters from around the country visiting our fair state, and sleeping happening at a bare minimum, I was ready to host quiz for your face. Even if I did fuck up sentences at a greater than usual frequency.

We started the night with a great mystery. The mystery was the WWE. The second mystery is how it's still so stupidly popular. Not a mystery? That everyone agrees that U2's The Edge is kind of a douche. Glad we're all on the same page.

Then came our Bad English music round. Remember when I mentioned the "McJagger"/David Bowie song Dancing in the Street's music video and the awkward sexual tension between the two men? Here it is, in all it's almost gonna kiss each other glory. To be fair, Fernando and I dance in streets like this on most weekdays.

Five Ways To Die was the next round. Turns out people die in film a lot. However, not everyone is lucky enough to be shot by Brad Pitt. *sigh*

Famous journeys was the topic of our fourth round. I don't know about you, but Vacation is still one of the best comedies ever. I wish Walley World did exist. I'd have so much fun there. Also, go seek out Throw Momma from the Train if you've not seen it. Fantastic.

Fernando was proud to read the answers to our Hotties of Yore visual round before launching into his BRIC house round. If those nations were a shock to you, welcome to the world. We're still the best, but the rest of the top 5 are getting bigger by the day.

The crowd favorite last night was definitely our 90's theme song round. Why? Because it was perfectly poised to hit the nostalgia centers of our brain. Not all of those shows continue to hold up, but Pete & Pete does. SO FUCKING GOOD.

After everything random was said and done, we found our winners. But first - two PSAs: Game of Thrones. Be there. Second - RUMBLE IN THE PUB. Albuquerque is one of 4 cities in the country invited to this special competition. SIGN UP AND WIN FOR THE GLORY OF ME (and maybe your team).

Monday night, you rock. With great weather and school over (for you poor souls still there), it was a fantastic night. Let's dive into last night's quiz.

We started the evening with Short Film Credits. It was pretty easy affair. I'm glad no one did the ol' Zach G V For Vagina answer. Also, I'm sad that OHF wasn't a Gerard Butler action packed sequel to UHF.

Did you guys figure out round 2's secret? All of the titles were Mariah Carey song titles. That's what it takes to put Bobby Darin and Nickelback in the same playlist. God, I hope I never have to say that again.

Then came our which came first junk food round. It took 11 years to go from root beer + ice cream to banana + ice cream. What the hell early 20th century?

We followed tht up with our Panama quote round. Yeah, it only had one Van Halen question, but it was still fantastic. Looking at the scores from that round, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of you don't know where Panama is.

What you guys do know? Child stars who ended up showing the goods later on in life. Turns out there's just as many Mr. Skin memberships at O'Niell's as there are beers.

Fernando jumped in to read our Abracafuckingdabra round. I don't know about you guys, but I freaking love magic. Not David Blaine though. I don't get that.

After quick round on King of the Hill cameos we came to our final round. I love round 8's that have everything. History, movies, politics, Jeopardy, and Ishtar. In the end, it was enough for the following teams to take home the quiz gold:

Oh man, we had a good one last night. I love it when the bar is loud and I start up some intro music and everyone settles down and prepares for quiz. It was one of those nights yesterday evening, where the silence of the room caused all rest of the people at O'Niell's to come up and start playing quiz for the first time.

We started the night with a round on current events. I was going to make fun of Orb, the horse that won the Kentucky Derby, when I thought about it and realized that Orb is probably the most sensible race horse name I've ever heard.

Our music round for the night featured some great circus related stuff. There were lions, elephants, cannonballs, rings, clowns, tigers, and more. And Natalie Merchant, the fixture of any great Carnival.

Our third round was a speed round on the Huntsman Swiss Army Knife. Many of you questioned the need of a hunter to have a wire stripper over a file. Not being a hunter, or a person even remotely familiar with "outdoor activities," I'm at a loss. I can only assume that sometimes you need to strip audio cables to hook up a surround sound theater system for bear calls or something.

Then came our eight people who need to get off my lawn round. There's a special place in hell for me after pretending to be Justin Beiber saying, "Dutch hide-and-seek loser." Not for anyone else on that list though.

After some 70's venn diagrams, Fernando gave you a partial list of some of the best wests. Like the Czech Republic. Ooooh!

Of course the standout last night was our audio listen carefully round on Porn for the Blind. PFTB is a real thing by the way. We didn't make it up. I haven't listened to some of their other cuts, but mostly because my wife is in the other room and I don't want to make it weird. You can check it out though. I don't care about it not being safe for your work or relationship status.

In the end, after a final round on Wonder Woman and not Wonder Woman things, we had found our winners of quiz:

Third Place

Second Place

First Place!
