The Final Blog... For Now.

Last night was amazing. We celebrated Freehouse, and also my birthday. All the Freehouse dogs came to play - even PARIS! Paris and I are best friends and she has been missing from Freehouse since having surgery. She got better just in time for my birthday! Bruce was also there, and he had a great time! Ruby was there, and our friends Terrie and Brad brought their dogs Sara and Murphy. We did miss seeing Polly, but hopefully she'll drop by the Marina quiz sometime soon.

We had a few teams come out from our other venues, and a few tables were occupied by our friends, who generally don't play quiz. It was good to see old friends Chris and Angel again.

The first time I hosted at Freehouse, it was March 2009 and I was training with then-QM Alison. When Alison left GWD, I took over Freehouse, hosted the first Simpson's quiz there, and enjoyed many scorching summers out on that stage.

A couple of years ago I left Freehouse in the very capable hands of QM Brad, who won most of you over with his quiet charm and active commentary on the happenings at Mr. Gatti's across the street. Brad also gave you all extra repeats on the audio rounds, and implemented the ceremonious playing of Africa as Round 8 began.

When Brad moved to NYC a year ago, I didn't hesitate to snatch Freehouse back. And it's been a good run for me. You all have been super welcoming, and although my old pre-Brad crowd has moved on, I feel like you guys have been quizzing with me for years.

I will miss Freehouse, and I know they will be back in a new and improved space downtown. At that time I will beg and plead to come back to host there. And I hope you'll come find me and Chelsea and be our quizzers again.

In the meantime, you can find Chelsea and I at Opal's Marina on Saturdays at 10pm, and at Mister Tramps on Wednesdays at 8pm. And at in.gredients on Thursdays at 7pm.

And Then There Was One.

Alright kids. After last night's quiz, there is only one left. And it's next week. On my birthday. And a couple of days before Chloe Hersheiser's birthday. I hear there will be cake. Like, a lot. I know I'll be skipping dinner!

Last night's quiz offered you a look at brand new QM RJ! RJ wielded that mic like he'd been doing it for years. He helped us out with the Sooner or Later round, and also covered the Who Dat Ninja round. We had a great time goofing off with him up on the stage.

We had two quiz dogs last night! Regulars Bruce and Ruby came to quiz to cheer on their favorite teams. It must have worked, because Thesaurus Rex won an easy 2nd place, with Anal Hersheiser winning 1st by a full 5 points!

Chelsea and I are really hoping to see you guys next week, where we will have cake, a helluva lot of Africa, and we'll also bring a quiz along for you. See you then! xoxo, Evelyn & Chelsea

Fun With Bruce And Ruby. And That Other Dog

Tonight we enjoyed a pre-mortem surge of quizzers! With 20 teams, we celebrated our 3rd-to-the-end quiz. 2 more to go, and then the Freehouse will close its doors. We're keeping everything running until the end, when we celebrate the final night (and my birthday) on May 28.

Tonight we had a nailbiter toward the end with Anal Hersheiser getting knocked down to a close 2nd place. Thesaurus Rex clawed their way to 1st, after a long hiatus from their perch. I noticed a new heavy-hitter on their team. Only two more weeks for these teams to battle it out over 1st.

Chelsea and I are leaving in the morning for a long road trip. We'll be back in time for next week's quiz, when we'll have another trainee sitting with us. Come out and heckle/cheer for the fella!
