Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that the rumors are true; Wednesday night Pub Quiz at the Ale House is no more. But don't let it bring you down too much, there's still plenty of opportunities to get your drink on while showcasing your knowledge of 80's B-comedies.
Last night, 8 teams showed up to celebrate. In a spectacular tie for last place, both Team Fallonious and Team Neat-O People secured 30 points before walking away. Ahead of them, Team Ouch! Was bare;y edged out by Team Hump-Day Strangers, who in turn were bested by Team The Man In The Bowler Hat. Taking third, with 59 points was Team CB For Sheezy. In second, with 80 points, the ever-lovable Team Pumba. And tonight, the final night, the difference between victory and second place was determined by 1 goddamn point. Taking that point, and the cake, kit-and-caboodle, and the hearts of millions, was Team What Ever Happened to Baby Evan? Which reminds me, you're all lovely people, and I'm glad I got to go out the same way I came in.
As I said earlier though, the show is far from over. My buddy Bald Bigger Evan runs a hell of a show at the RAM every Thursday night. This Thursday, in fact, we're having a Doctor Who dress-up contest, which is going to be so fun, we're going to have to make up new words for it. I hope to see you guys there myself. As always, make sure to keep your ear to the ground by checking the fabulous GeeksWhoDrink website frequently for announcements and new venues. Who knows, maybe there might be something about your favorite quizmaster getting a shiny new venue soon. You'll never know if you don't keep an eye out. Until that fateful day friends, so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, and goodbye.

Quick, name one way that being a quizmaster and having sex are similar (I know, they're endlessly comparable, just pick one). For me, the first thing that comes to mind is that the biggest complaint people have with either is their partner isn't being vocal enough. You might think it's cute to be all shy and timid, but trust me, most of us are much too inebriated or straight up not smarts enough to be playing games of subtle gestures and tasteful double entendre. For both, when things are bad, just yell “UH-UH”, and when things are good, you'll be making all the noise you need. I only bring this up because, tonight, you guys made me feel like a man. No one was afraid to be vocal, it livened things up a ton, and for the most part, it was done at perfect moments, without messing with my flow. It felt good, I felt good, and if I did as well as I was feeling, then it was 100% because of the encouraging laughter and witty banter being thrown my way.
Nine teams came out tonight, and Team Yaaaa 2 Chainz walked out a little early with 9th place (yes, I know, another common complaint for both categories). In 8th place, we had the return of Team Smegma, which left The Remainders with 7th. Ahead of them, Team Ouch! Was painfully edged out by as little as 1 point by Team The People Leaving Early, who were in turn bested by Team BallzOut (AKA The Winners). Taking 3rd place was Team Mr. Fister, who were particularly rambunctious this evening (goes with the territory). In 2nd place, with 62 points was Team Pumba. And taking 2st tonight, the ever-wonderful, ever-marvelous, aptly-named Team Taking Care of Quizness.

Good evening, ladies and gents, and welcome back from another night filled with intoxicated romance and cutthroat, brutal trivia pit-fights. Thought if the gladiators had been half as ruthless or entertaining to watch, I'm sure they would still have a place in modern society. I really can't emphasize how close tonight was enough. At our first scoring break, I believe that the spread between our first and last place teams, was 11 points, with 10 teams in attendance. Speaking of which, the one man wonder, team That One Guy held on strong all evening, despite being voted off SevenPeopleAtTheTable Island earlier than night, and for that, you have nothing but my respect, sir. Tied above him at 35 points were teams Massive Hammer and What It Is. Awesome Possum snuck in ahead of those two, but were bested by the tragic team 3rd Place For Days coming in 6th. Man In the Bowler Hat, in the meantime, was barely bested by his longstanding rival, team GroupType. Then, despite boasting a large lead all night, team Drinks Who Geek was knocked down a peg or two out of nowhere, managing to secure 3rd place in the process with 63 points. With 70 points, team You Mean I Put My Pants On For This? Cleaned up nicely with second place. And coming in first, further establishing dominance and probably marking their territory in the meantime, team Pumba steals the show and 1st place with 73 points.
