How gorgeous was it last night at Blue Mountain Brewery? SOOO FREAKIN' GORGEOUS!!! No, really. It was almost obscene. I feel like I have to apologize to every other Quizmaster for hogging all the scenery worth having. So, I'm sorry.. for my venue being too awesome.
Round 1 was.. no wait, still not done talking about the picturesque setting in which, I conduct this quiz. It was so beautiful it almost made you want to puke, from the sensory overload. OK, I think I covered it now.
Round 1 was the mystery round Geeks Who Drink had been plugging all week. The real mystery was how some people didn't figure out the theme after “Monopoly” and “Twister”. But most people got the theme. It was a relatively high scoring round but no perfect scores to be had.
The perfect score drought would continue into round 2, but some jokers would be used and some gauntlets would be thrown down. Pleasant!(yes, it was) put up double digits along with their joker, but John Triviolta + Trivia Newton John would squeak by them and took the round with their joker. Some teams passed on doubling up their double digit scores. Possible mistake?..........Yep.
Our Sooner or Later round was a surprise double round. Graduates In Denial passed on doubling up their best outright score of the night, Ruh-Roh Raggy! The Circle Jerks wouldn't waste the opportunity to joker. A solid score made even solid..-er. Ben + Friends was right behind them with their best score of the night.
Going into the break, Pleasant! And Circle Jerks broke the perfect score drought in round 4, both walking away with full credit despite the intentionally misleading TV show descriptions. The drought was back on immediately in round 5, Pleasant! Took top honors in our visual round. Since when was there a Mayor in Buffy?
Round 6 was high scoring but no perfects yet again, almost everyone was over .500. Graduates in Denial finally pulled the trigger on their joker. They settled on doubling a single digit score.. which is like settling for Lindsey Lohan when you could've had Scarlett Johansen. Coulda shoulda woulda guys..
In the meantime, John Triviolta and Pleasant! Were racking up solid scores. John Triviolta would take round 7, which was a pretty low-scoring round. Maybe everyone was drunk on the scenery... or just drunk.... probably both.
The Reckoning. The Home Broo Hooz were holding out on using their joker. They were hoping for a miracle going into the random knowledge round. Would it pay off? They're GWD Veterans, they know the risks. Staff Infection, some Blue Mountain peeps, were also holding out on using their joker. They would end up taking the round. Damn. There was still some wiggle room in the pack, and first place had not been sown up. How would it play out?
The Top Three looks like this: Third Place – The Circle Jerks, Second Place – John Triviolta + Trivia Newton John, First Place – Pleasant!
Thanks to everyone for coming out! We will be out on the patio through-out the summer, weather permitting. Follow me on twitter(@QuizMasterClay) and also Blue Mountain Brewery(@BlueMtnBrewery).

It was one hell of a night in Afton. 12 teams, over 50 people, a slight rain delay, AaNnDd it was Craft Beer Week! Our teams came from just down the street to Chicago. The scores were high and the field was very tight. Well done, everyone. Well Done.
There's no other way to say it, our teams owned round 1. And not the good kind of ownership, the “Run it hard, crash it into a wall, and then buy a new one” type of ownership. Dr. Funke's 100% Natural Good-Time Family Band, Fishy Fishy, Robert Downey Jr.'s Black Tar Heroin Dealers, Whiskey Dix, and I'll Let You Touch My Chilidog If I Can Taste Your Sour Cherry aside from making me write a damned book on my scoresheet, all scored perfectly in our recently in stuff round. Most teams scored over .500, it was one hell of a start.
We got a little gay in round 2. Attention Deficit Drunks, Fishy Fishy, and Team Mitchell all scored into the double digits BUT!! The Graduates and My Hearts In Chicago But My Liver's Here For Craft Beer Week did too and jokered. Gamesmanship. Dr. Funke's was lurking in the wings quietly(not so quietly) tying for first in the round.
Round 3 was our first special Beer round. Home Broo Hooz scored perfectly, but so did AquaBlazers. AND they jokered. AANNDD they got the bonus question as well. AAANNNDDD they dressed up like lumberjacks. Basically, round 3 was their's. Back off.
… and then the rain started. It screwed with our groove, but we soldiered on. Round 4 gave us some hot First Lady action. Dr. Funke's, Home Broo, Aqua, and Chilidog all got perfect scores heading into the break. Round 5 was about people so generous, you hate them for it. The Grads, Chicago, Fishy, and RDJ all got perfect scores. So did …
.. The Face and Followers. They were on a two round streak with a perfect in round 5 and then a nearly perfect with a joker in our second Beer round. Damn. Whiskey Dix and Dr. Funke's were right behind them with perfect scores. Remember Tila Tequila? Yeah, neither does anyone else.
Round 7 was our first round without a perfect score. Dr. Funke's and The Face got close on our round about animal theme songs. In their defense, Duckman is really obscure. Not in their defense, They should know about Squidbillies!
The Reckoning. There had been several scoresheet shake-ups throughout the night. Dr. Funke's had managed to stay out in front the entire night but they were still catchable. Home Broo wanted the win, as they told me many times. Fishy managed to jump up in the pack. Whiskey was falling but could still pull off a miracle. And The Grads were lurking in the middle with a live joker.
Our Top Three looks like this: Third Place – The Graduates, Second Place – Attention Deficit Drunks, First Place – Dr. Funke's 100% Natural Good-Time Family Band.

Our regulars had the rooms to themselves last night. Time for me to shine! I could set my own pace, knock these questions out of the park, and had a friendly(ish) crowd to work with. I killed it, they killed it, that quiz was D.O.A.
Shameless Plug: Next week is National Craft Beer Week and Blue Mountain Brewery is having a special Beer-Themed Quiz to celebrate it! Let's pack the Brewery to the rafters (or to the top of the pergola if we get this puppy outside..) and celebrate beer like true beer aficionados in the beeriest way that beer can beer!
Total Non Sequitur: Firefly could have been one of the greatest T.V. Shows of all time. What the hell was Fox thinking?! It had cowboys, rebels, gunfights, heists, train-robberies, AANNDD starships and space battles! It also had some of the greatest anti-heroes every written. The show was compelling and kept you coming back every week. Rupert Murdoch is an idiot for letting that one go(and for many other reasons).
Back to the Quiz: It was a relatively quiet room, BUT! It was also a very tight race with high scores. Everyone went home with some prizes last night! The Home Broo Hooz had a very solid round 1, a nearly perfect round 2 with a joker, gamesmanship, a great round 4, and broke into the high 60's for their final score. Well done, you guys!
Chubbles had an excellent performance that might have won the whole kit and kaboodal on another night! They had a double digit and jokered round 2, a nearly perfect round 4, a perfect round 6, and a double digit round 8. They took home some money and will be back again, hungry to take it all!
Kate Winslet's Rockin' Rack (our Spring Fever Tournament runner-up's) jumped out ahead early and never looked back. They had a nearly perfect round 1, and then decided they couldn't go on for one more round without getting full credit. They locked-down round 2, earning full points with a joker. Damn. Perfect was the theme of the night, taking home full points from rounds 5 and 6, and then getting into the double digits in the final round. That's how you do it folks.
The Top Three(the only three) looks like this: Third Place – The Home Broo Hooz, Second Place – Chubbles, First Place – Kate Winslet's Rockin' Rack.
Thanks to everyone who came out last night! Let's pack the quiz for next week's Beer Quiz! Bring your friends, bring your mom, bring that guy you really don't like just so you can beat them! Watch-out for the growler grab questions on twitter (@QuizMasterClay, @BlueMtnBrewery).
