Hi, yes I am that Portia from the radio. Come see what I really look like, which of course is nothing what anyone pictures. I don't look like Pamela Anderson or Hayden Panittiere, but I am damn flattered! Just get ready for the disappointment. I also love, "You don't sound like you do on the air." That's because we switch on our sexy fantasy announcer voices on the radio. It's one of the rules. This is why most gents think I look like a Playboy model. Sigh, if only. Then I wouldn't be a Quizmaster, I'd actually would be gallivanting around the mansion with Heff right now. If you want a really big kick I'll be on country radio once in a while filling in mid-days. 104.3, it's actually one of the only independent stations left and the staff is incredibly chill and they are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I also DJ weddings and events, so give me a buzz if you are interested.

Besides being scarred for life, and starting late (my special announcing booth was occupied by patrons for HALF AN HOUR) we had one of the most entertaining (and argumentive) visual rounds and a good 'ol time over all. Okay I'm fragile so be gentile.

 

There were four teams originally which one decided not to give it a shot. However they stayed the entire quiz and seemed like having a good time nonetheless. The other teams were fiercely competitive and poor team Killadelphia may had taken it all home if they didn't arrive three rounds late (and we started 30 after our time!!). Team Challenger brought to my attention that Q8. on the visual round guessing the deconstructed movie posters that even though it was Poltergeist, it also looked identical to Seven Years in Tibet. Look it up! They were one point ahead of Take 5, 6 Feet Under after round seven however the latter team of Einstein's offspring came back fiercely in the random knowledge round.

 

P.S. I am not opposed to more hot Philly boys visiting and playing GWD in my presence.

It started right after the Jazz game ended, the food and beer were amazing as usual, I even showered this time and went out of my way to comb my hair and wear my sexy new turkey-day loose sparkly sweater and oxblood high-heeled booties. So why was there only one team left by 9:55 pm out of six? I blame the computer conference for team Crayons, who did a fine job until it was past their bed-time, plus I did talk them into playing batting my extra-coated mascara eyelashes in the first place. C&K were also doing well but had to drive back out to BFE, however they did stay for the Ryan Gosling round because hey, it's Ryan Gosling. Rival teams Tiffany's #1 Fan and White Girl Problems left right after round 6, (probably to go back to someone's pad, bouncy bouncy). All was not lost for winners Longyear, since they were kicking ass and taking names since round two, scoring 32 points for the audio round because they spanked AND Jokered it. Boo-ya.

There will be no GWD at Maxwell's next week for the day before Turkey Day, however please join us on November 28 at our new time 8:00 pm as we resume.

I had too much fun playing the 80s John Hughes-inspired hits tonight. By the way...bone-in wings. Four teams again, that seems to be the magic number, even though the dominating duo Frenchie left after round four and turning in the way-too tempting visual round. Gluteus maximus? Check. Similarly a quartet of cute girls started to play then just gave up. They said they'd come back though. (I'll give you an update) Lazer Cats Too and WWW came back to unexpectedly battle each other. LCT took this one home beating WWW by only two points.

 

Next Wednesday (Halloween!) Maxwell's will have a huge party so the quiz will be postponed to November 7. See you then at 8:00! Oh yeah, the quiz has been moved from seven to eight, FYI. The cool thing about this joint is that ya don't have to be 21, even a couple of kiddos under 6 tolerated us for about five minutes finishing their pizza before having their moms drag them out from our filth.
