Today was a shitty day for the city of Seattle to say the least. The NBA decided for the second time since 2008 to make sure we were screwed out of having a team. My theory is that this affected the city so greatly as a whole that it caused the participation of quizzers to drop significantly, and with Oklahoma City on TV during the quiz, fuuuuuuck! The NBA couldn't rub it in anymore! But hey the quiz must go on and despite the city wide depression it did at the Marco Polo.
Sweatpants Boners, a team that usually shows up as Drawing Blanks, showed up with a six person team this week and lead front start-to-finish. Catapulted by a 30 point round two they coasted to an impressive 78 points!
What Makes You Think I Won't Cut You? with just one team member did quite well with a solid 2nd place finish 73 points. Have to admit that the team name kinda creepy...and I don't really advocate personal harm...well unless its to that cock David Stern. Then it's OK.
Notes:
Getting people to play for FREE beer this week was like pulling teeth Sheesh people FREE!!!
Moby...whatever happened to that guy? Goddamn sellout!
"Remember Alf? Well he's back..in pog Form!" - Milhouse (pertaining to round 6 answer)
Denholm Elliot is dead but Peter O'Toole isn't?!? Why????
Sweatpants Boners..there were six of you, and I'm guessing by your answers that none of you have even heard of the game Operation? (Arm? Leg?) You poor depraved people!
Well that's about all the energy I have for this week, til' next time!

In the eight months since we've been quizin' at the Marco Polo, not once have we ever and I mean EVER had a tie for first place.... this was until last night.
The entire quiz up until the final round seemed fairly uneventful. No real craziness, solid teams and thanks to my Rhapsody membership I was able to easily play Kokomo and We Didn't Start The Fire during the final scoring break of the evening much to the "delight" of all of my teams. ..but then Bonus Town used their joker for a 24 point final round to tie Love Burst..who themselves had decided to use their joker for 30 points in round two...at 69(lol) for first place! Holy balls!
So naturally we had to have a tiebreaker. I had the two squads pick a representative and then I asked the tiebreaker question, "in what year was carnagie hall completed?" Bonus Town was just 9 years off with their guess, with Love Burst being 18 years off and thusly we had ourselves a winner! What a game folks!!
Notes:
- Thanks Jenny, for the additional final tiebreaker pic. As you can see I definitely used it!
- "the guy from King of Queens" is not an acceptable answer...for anything!
- Yeah I'm not going to purchase Taco Bells bottled sauce anytime soon. I'm sure my bowel's will thank me.
- Happy Endings, it would be pretty ironic if we used sound clips from your Home Made Porno and its sequel! How would GWD even get access to those??
- Those mormon's at BYU sure know how to party!!!
- To the email prize winner. Luckily this week you were the one answer that didn't write your name down and luckily I knew who everyone else was. Next time write your name down. It'll make my life easier.
Til' next week!

SO..99.99999% of the time the categories for the weekly quiz at Marco Polo are top notch, grade A stuff. And 7 out of the 8 categories this week were too. But the "butt sex" round? Come on guys! This could've been one of the worst rounds since I've been a QM. Pretty sure a few teams dropped out because of it...and its not like it was ultimately a humourous round. So maybe next week lets re-evaulate that as a round. After all some of us do have teams that do tend to veer older and I don't want to deter anyone from playing just because a round might come off as offensive. The bartender, Brad at the Marco Polo is super-awesome and even he this week was like, "that butt sex round was terrible, dude." Not to dwell on it too much...which I'm sure I already have... but yeah no more of those rounds.
Despite round 6 we did indeed have a solid group of Quizzer's this week. Consistently Inconsistent top the ranks again with a solid 74 points and veterans Rage Against The Vending Machine took second with 68 points. Although anaylizing the round by round scores had they switched their joker to round 2 instead of round 8 there would've been a first place tie for the first time ever at the Marco Polo!!! But alas it was not to be, possibly because I realized that about 4 hours after the fact.
Notes:
- Solid effort by the solo Drawing Blanks this week... I must admit she's pretty hot on a weekly basis. She also happens to be my ol' lady whom I never let preview the quiz before hands. i'm honorable like that.
- Video game consoles seemed to stump more teams than I would've expected. The Gameboy chime though, fuckin' classic.
- Riots were going on in downtown Seattle in the midst of the quiz.. no big deal.
- Rooney's Pants despite feeling they might be a little up there in years for our quiz did a fine job.
- Kellie & Kirsten proved that I need not judge a book by its cover.
Til next week!
