Chris (Roach)

Roach comes from a long line of Quizmasters. His ancestor, Littleberry Roach, is credited with bringing pub quizzes to America from Ireland, where they were created as a way to combine drinking and being smarter than other people. When he's not quizzing, he spends his nights studying up on everything that could possibly be a quiz topic and his days gallivanting around the world saving small orphan children from explosives.

I need to open with an apology here. To everyone who made it out to Rapture last night: I'm sorry. You were subjected to what could be the worst Jewish grandmother impression in the history of impressions, grandmothers, and Abrahamic faiths. I'm pretty sure I ended up sounding more like Paul Hogan than any of the lovely ladies down in Boca Raton.
Despite my aural torture, we had a great night. You folks nailed your movies, bible references, and the often challenging random knowledge. Although we had a surprise double helping of 16-point audio rounds, both of them produced some slim scores. I suggest boning up on your mediocre sitcoms and disco.
Not really, though. Who the hell wants to spend their time studying those when they could be watching an Arrested Development marathon?
Speaking of Arrested Development, I'm pretty sure my shift from player to quizmaster last night is what allowed historic champs Axis of C'Ville to finally regain their title. Well played, gentlemen, but your throne is starting to look a little like that rusty one in Westeros. Better bring your A-game next week.

Opinions Vary......although I think every one agrees I drink to much on duty.

What up fools!!!? The turnout tonight was, to say the least, a real surprise, see round 5 if you don't believe me. So many teams, I love this quiz because you never know whats gonna happen sometimes a 5th place team last quiz can be a first place team, looking at you NoodleBar. Yep, thats right our big winner tonight was Noodlebar, sorry to bury the lead. “Where was Axis of Cville” you ask, they must have at least made second place right? Wrong, I think they had a little trouble getting their shit together a late arrival and being short a few team members cost them any kind of medal placing. So who were our second and third place teams. Well that would be Aaron Neville Long Bottom and Montreal Diving Club respectively. As I stated at tonight’s quiz, that joker can be a real bitch, tonight’s 6th place team and our 3rd place team had only a difference of about 4 or 5 points. I could check on the actual numbers, I mean I have them right here but I'm not gonna, the point is it was a close match and I'm sorry Kittens Mittens that you were bit in the ass by that jovial juggalo-esque joker in the corner.

Now, as far as the actual quiz questions I really like tonight’s quiz.....or did I?!! Round 1 you all did fantastic, some of you were too late to get any benefit from that round but what are you gonna do. Round 2 however you guys still did pretty good, I like this rounds theme title cause in no way could you call these Mashups so they must be Unmashups, I mean what else could you call them? Oh I know, two songs played really close to each other, boom!!!! Round 3, hey, this is GEEKS who drink if you don't know most of your JLA members than you, sir, are shit out of luck. That being said I had not heard of Atom, I'm guessing he was a little guy.

Some people get Nam flash backs I'm going to get Billy round 5 flash backs, you think you print enough but you don't. Thats okay teams can share....Oh wait you mean you've written the answers on the sheet so you can't share, well that's a GD nightmare. Glad we can work it out and I still have no idea what was going on that round, your answers were straight up gibberish! So nerds do love video games but they probably hate sports. Wanna watch them feel conflicted, confused, happy and maybe a bit angry have an entire round about sports video games, specificity one that is a 90's kid sugar plum fairy wet dream. Thats pretty much what we got out of round 6 tonight. Round 7, you crazy, why? Cause Australia be crazy and so is me having to fill mind boggling silence between each clip/question to give my loverly quiz teams time to think. I desperate man on a mic trying to fill is a sad say thing. Well whatever confusion those last couple rounds caused it didn't matter cause you guys nailed round 8, you know that random knowledge round! Thats the one! I think the lowest score was a 12, thats pretty damn good honestly and the highest score was a perfect round by our winners NoodleBar, that does not happen often so hats off to you!!! So quiz is done but the weather is nice out so you guys enjoy your week and I hope to see you all next week. Welp thats been quiz!!!

Oh how the mighty have fallen!!!! So tonight was one of those small intimate nights I do of course love. It was a regulars ball, and with a regulars ball there was of course a heated race for the GD first prize. Now I sit in my little thrown upon the “stage” at Rapture with only room for one team next to me. That team is usually a contender favorite NoodleBar. I'm not saying that there are advantages to siting next to me but it does make for a situation in where you might know before the others whats going on. Case in point, tonight when I had an inkling that the usual number one might end up in third place I let em know the score, only because I thought they had a fighting chance, I have never been so wrong in my life. Dramatic? Yes, but I saw the Hobbit three times in the theater so you'll forgive.

Lets not speak in such uncertain terms any more, of course the team I suspected would be in third place by the first break was none other than Axis of Cville, I thought this might be the case but those tricky bastards are rallying kings so I wouldn't have been surprised if they had taken the whole damn thing. That being said lately we've had a new super team, one to watch out for and that is of course Kittens Mittens. A sleeper team that had been tearing up the score board ever since their first appearance in which they walked out without their prize. That shit is baller!!!! If I had to put money on tonight’s quiz, say we're in a fantasy quiz league, I would have put NoodleBar and/or Kittens Mittens in first fighting for that first losing place of second with Axis in third, which by the way is unheard of!!! However, tonight’s turn out was juicer than I could have hoped for.

Now that I've buried the lead enough I'll just say it. I came to my assessment of the evenings turnout going solely on recent quiz results. The one thing I forgot, though, is the power of friendship and tonight I saw it's true power in a team who's turnout hasn't been the most consistent and that doesn't have the best average but a team that couldn't be better assembled and that was our winner tonight, team Winky Face. Winky Face came in, showed Axis and Kittens Mittens who's boss and took the prize. The scores were so close it had to hurt and I was mostly right about tonight. The one thing I didn't see coming was the surprise Joker at the end by Bart Starr Orchestra putting always a brides maid never a bride team NoodleBar in fifth place. Yikes.

One last thing before I go, to the last place team, Uncle Touchy's Puzzle Basement, first off I'm so happy you were proud to be the team you were and second I hope you see how begging can be somewhat beneficial. Also Happy Birthday Ryan. Please and thank you to everyone who came out tonight and will come out next week. For those who didn't show up you missed a hell of a quiz, super fun questions as stated by local celebrity Travis Elliot. Lastly I want say welcome back Roach, we'll have to get you in the hot seat soon, seriously and congrats to PJ for his new gainful employment. Goodnight.
