It doesn't matter if your candidate won or lost last night, all that matters is that the fine people Swagger came out the true winner this evening.  The teams brought themselves and their hunger for quizes to my location and voted with their answer sheets in order to win some coveted prizes.

I had four wonderful teams this evening ranging from regulars to newbies, much like the mix of voters this election.  Regulars JKLOL decided to switch it up and go with Brain Busters and returning champs Smarty Pants showed up for a chance at a second term as Swaggerest champs of Swagger.  But lo, we had some third party candidates in the form of The McGroin Brother (Pat, Jack and Tug) along with The Geeks Who Drink Too Much

I just want this to be known, if you challenge your Quizmaster, you will be destroyed.  I realize that my good looks will disarm you and bring down your defenses, but don't think I am just all looks.  The female quizer on The Geeks Who Drink Too Much team decided she wanted to get into a blog off with me and her sad realization is that I LIVE on the internet.  It is both the source of my livelihood and also power.  I will code like the best of them and I will  make your piddly site and content look like some angsty emo myspace page.  Glittery unicorns and crappy emo music be damned.

Oh yeah, the rounds.  Apparently round 7 proved to be the down fall for most teams as everyone just about bombed the comedic drama movies.  Listen, I realize that comedy is a universal language and all, but branch out a bit more with some dramatic movies.  The Round 6 prophecy prediction went as I predicted and not in their favor.

But it was a couple of strategically placed jokers that sealed the deal for one team and frankly, this was the closest finish ever.  One point separated 3rd and 2nd place and three points separated 1st and 2nd.

Well, in third place was a tie.  The Geeks Who Drink Too Much ended up climbing back up from last to tie with a team who ended up leaving after the 5th round, The McGroin Brothers.  In second place is JKLOL, now known as Brain Busters.  Always the bridesmaid never the bride.  And that means Smarty Pants are the winners.

The Nachos at Swagger are phenomenal.

Not really, Swagger is just fine.  It was a fine Halloween night, with no sight of werewolves and monster, except for one of the staff members who was a sparkly vampire.  Clever, but enraging!  I want to scold said staff member about how true vampires don’t sparkle and are the things of nightmares, not something that can be used as an emergency disco ball.  Then I remembered that chicks dig sparkly vampires and he was upping his chances with the ladies.  Good on you sir.

Well it turned out to be a monster mash of a night with four teams all competing for the glory of being the best at pub quiz, which for some people will be the pinnacle of their evening.  With my trusty computer, camera, quiz cheat sheet, and musical cues ready to go…..we had problems.  The SOUND WAS DEAD!  That’s right; the most horrific thing to happen that even was the sound not working.  I did the pre-check earlier that evening, everything went fine.  Then it was game time and it’s gone.  It was murdered just mere moments before we had to begin.

Thankfully, I MacGuyver’d my way out of this issue since Geeks Who Drink hired me not for my good looks and acerbic nature, but for this operatic and boastful voice of mine.  Yes, I had to talk slightly louder than normal to belt out rounds such as “Double your Doublefun” and “Whores, Horrors, and Horrible Things”.  But what about the audio rounds?  Well I embraced the teams around the warmth of the laptop and my meager speakers to give them the rounds that made me fond of the television show, In Living Color and random vampire movies.  We made do, cause we are Geeks.

Alright, enough about the issues at hand, let’s get to who won and lost.

One man hitchhiker, Slartybartfast, stood his ground as best he could, but ended up getting left in the dust in the end.  Veterans and fans of the Quizmaster, JKLOL, ended up succumbing to horror tropes and ended up in third after being in first after 5 rounds.  It came down to Spooky Pumpkins and Whore or Movie? (lol) to escape the menacing quizmaster to safety of first place.  Well, after a strategic joker in the Random Knowledge round, Spooky Pumpkins came from third to first to seal the deal.  Congratulations, you win some candy sans razor blades.

The Suribachi Burger was delicious and spicy.

Awww yeah, Swagger time!

Tonights pub quiz gave me both hope and sadness.  On one hand, I was excited to see the two, well, three teams know  a little bit about politics and some relevant current events.  It gave me a warm feeling that maybe we are all truly informed citizens about world events that shape our country and world.  Then it was dashed immediately when the more, celebrity based questions were answered with the confidence that you only see when someone weaseled their way out of a parking ticket.  But such is life.

A couple of rounds that I was super proud of to present to the people of Swagger.  The SAP Audio round was great cause I finally got to hear what Du Hast was actually about.  Avril Lavigne sounds slightly better when sung in Japanese.

Round 3 with the two run-on anwers was a favorite amongst teams G-Men and regulars JKLOL.  I particularly like the answer, No Child Left Behind the Music, cause I would watch the hell out of that show.

In the end, it was a two-way battle for supremacy between JKLOL and G-Men, where G-Men showed how G they are by taking first place.  Pretty good showing for some newbies to Geeks Who Drink.

The Sumo Chicken sandwich was delicious.
