It’s time for another Safari Mari Science Lesson. Today’s topic: taxonomy, which is how biologists classify living organisms. There are 7 taxonomic levels that go from the largest/broadest category down to the most specific group. Organisms are classified according to their body structure (not just penis size) and their relatedness (yes, that’s a word.) In any case, the seven levels go as follows:

Kingdom -> Phylum -> Class -> Order -> Family -> Genus -> Species

However, in middle school and high school, kids have to remember the levels in order.  Typically, they are taught the following little mnemonic device in order to remember them in order:

Kings (Kingdom) Play (Phylum) Chess (Class) On(Order) Fuzzy (Family) Green(Genus) Spaces (Species)

But how boring is that? My way to remember them: Keep Putting Condoms On For Good Sex. See? Knowledgeable AND teaches proper safe sex techniques. Bam. Science has been dropped, bitches.

Now, what brought this on? Probably the visual round, which was on identifying some members of the Order Rodentia. They are so cute! I want a little water vole or flying squirrel!

Congrats to our team winners: 1^st place went to Greater Than Equal To Satan and 2^nd place went to The Brogrammers! Dani won a sweet Bob Dylan book for answering the email bonus question. And Kelsey won the Facebook group challenge, which was to create drawing that finished the song lyric “In the jungle, the mighty jungle…” Her phrase “…Safari Mari gets laid tonight” had quizzers and bar staff laughing. She won some delicious cheesecake. I sadly, won’t be getting any goodies of the dessert-kind or the sexual-kind. Boo.

This is going to be my last post as your Quiz Master for Bourbon St. Bar and grill. I know. sad face. Good news EVERYONE I’m still a Quiz Master! So y'all will still see a lot of me (that sounded like I’m posing for a Playgirl spread) around town quizzing your intellect! This Week we had Hurricane Balls in a Tampa Hooker (wonder how much that costs - juuuuust CurioussSSSS) coming in first, Jonny Dakota Fan Club in a hot second place, The Crazy Hill of Beans in third, Lance is Such a Dope (LOL) in fourth, Half The Battle coming in around the half-ish mark in fourth, In fifth we have Robot chicken looking dude flying solo The Evil Dr. Scientist, In sixth Ballz Deep, and Finally in Last place The Last Catridge.

The place, Bourbon St. Bar and Grill 4612 Park Boulevard  San Diego, CA 92116 in University Heights (too specific?). The Date, Monday August 20^th 2012. It was a warm summer night and MY VERY FIRST TIME HOSTING!!!! Hey y’all I’m Chip a new Quiz Master on the scene. Last night for me was so Nerve wracking, I’m not going to lie, I totally watched JEPORDY just to study up on hosting! By the way I’m a pretty goofy fellow DEAL WITH IT. Shout out to all the teams who participated in the Bourbon St. Bar and Grill Geeks Who Quiz this past Monday; Legitimately Rapin’ Akin, Steve Brule’s Shushi Wraps, We’re Making Shit Up, Legitimate Crepe, Melky Cabrera’s Defense Team, Free Pussy Riot, and Two-Word Name – Thank you!

Rounds 1-3 were very consistent with (and I loved this name)  Free Pussy riot in 6^th place behind Two-Word Name in 5^th, Melky Cabrera’s Defense Team in 4^th, Legitimate Crepe in 3^rd, Steve Brule’s Shusi Wraps Tied for second  and Legitimately Rapin’ Akin the whole way through Until Rounds 4-6 and some Jokered score sheets became a clutch game changer with the final standings  as such; Two word name in 7^th, (I love this Name!.. If I could name a cat…) Free Pussy Riot in 6^th, Melky Cabrera’s in 5^th, In 4^th Legitimate Crepe, and the top three of the night bottom up were We’re Making Shit Up for 3^RD, Steve Brule’s Shushi Wraps in 2^nd, and Finally in First place defending the title – leading the pack the entire night LEGITIMATELY RAPIN’ AKIN!
