Wednesday nights at Broken Bottle Brewery!
Sarah (SK)

Sarah Kennedy is a quizmaster who's afraid to curse in front of her mom.

Voted best local comedian by both Albuquerque the Magazine and the Weekly Alibi, Sarah is excited to bring her stand up comedy chops to the world of Albuquerque quiz.

If a standard rule of Geeks is that the quiz is fixed, the best way to guarantee that she shines her good graces upon your team is to A.) Buy her drinks (on a night when she's not driving); B.) Talk about Reba McEntire/reference Reba McEntire in your team name; C.) Come out to any of her numerous stand up shows around town on quizless nights; and/or D.) Be a generally nice, cool, and regular human being.

Sarah loves being part of the Gs who D family and she is thrilled to bring a night of quiz to the Westside!

Now that I've been loving you so looooooong?

Welp, it's time, Broken Bottle. This is it -- the last blog post. We had a good time, didn't we? So much quiz, often times with sushi/pizza/Subway thrown in. We had some good times that's for sure and last night was no exception.

As I start the last second-paragraph, I have to wonder in a very Sex-in-The-City-Way: Are dogs man's best friend, or are a man's best his dawgs. And in a less Sex-in-The-City-Way, where will you all go now? Hopefully to one of two places:

1.) O'neill's. They have a long running Wednesday night quiz. Come play there.

or

2.) Broken Bottle Brewery. Even though they're quizless, they're still a great local place and we should be supporting them!

Either way, let's reflect back on the night we spent together.

Our last first round was all about trees, and really, any time there's a Buffy related question, my heart smiles.

Our final second round was a battlefield. I lost a lot of good men out there.

The ultimate 3rd round inside Broken Bottle gave us a little bonding time, with both Bonjour Croissant and Keep The Change, Ya Filthy Animal getting straight 8s on the round.

Let's talk about team Keep The Change, Ya Filthy Animal, shall we? They're quiz regulars and with totally awesome style and flair, they've been working their team names, week after week, through amazing dialog from a film that's sampled in that cinematic classic, Home Alone. Juuuuuust in time for the holidays. Way to go.

Also, let us talk of Hey Cupcake, a team so earnest and steadfast, who were absent last night. We all missed them, and in their place two tribute teams popped up: Howdy Doughnut and Bonjour Cupcake. We were greeting baked goods all over the place!

We had a bit of a drawing competition in round 4, and any teams that drew bears have their photos up in the gallery. Take that, Smacks the frog. You weak, weak creature.

Y'all rocked it in round 5. Way to identify those flying objects.

I tried my best english accent in round 6. It sounded much more like Mrs. Doubtfire and less like Margaret Thatcher, but whatareyagonnado?

Our last, penultimate round took some listening skills, with the highest score by any team being a 5.

Aaah, but it was our endmost eighth round that brought about the night's winners. The final champs of Broken Bottle Geeks Who Drink: Bonjour Croissant and Keep The Change, Ya Filthy Animal.

I always had fun, thank you all for being so awesome!

'Twas the night of Halloween and all through the brewery,
few teams arrived for quiz tomfoolery.
But beer was had and questions posed
as quizzers wrote answers in costumed clothes
We had a pair of boobs and a friar play
a mascarade mask, and a Baywatch babe
while pizza orders and sushi came
to feed the quizzers during the game
Round one was first, and it was awesome
though, no one guessed "raccoon" and everyone guessed "possum"
I wasn't allowed to watch In Living Color, for it was too racy
which is too bad, 'cause I love covers of Chapman, Tracy.
Many teams scored highly in round 2
leading me to believe that I'm much younger than all of you.
Seriously, who remembers actually watching that show?
What's a fly girl, and which one was was J Lo?
Anyway, round 3 looked a lot like the Hollywood world
Vampires everywhere and not enough girls
I'm always amazed when "Sooner" is chosen
but the teams who picked it, on that round, did am-o-zen.
As the night went on, and Justin Beiber was heard,
'Twas my halloween trick for you, Geeks Who Drink nerds
He's a dreamy loveboat with voice like an angel
If you're able to look past his weird rape/prolife angle
After 8 rounds of quiz, and from right out the gate,
first place was snagged by "Hello Ween is what a fat guy says after he loses weight"
In second place for the night was "Y Tu Mama Tambien"
See you next week. Poem over now, The End.

Caribbean Queen, Now we're shaaaaaring the same dreeeaaaam!

Last night's quiz did a lot to inspire some good "scorin' break" music. Billy Ocean, NIN, Mandarin Avril Lavigne? All awesome. Also, I've been working real hard to weave more Tegan and Sara into your lives. Love them, won't you?

I know how much you Broken Bottlers love politics -- you rank about a 0%-15% on the Love of Them Scale. So, just to antagonize you, we kicked off the quiz with a round mostly about political happenings. Some relief came, though, once a Justin Timberlake question was asked. Your welcome. For that. Whew.

Then we listened to weird translated music. Poor Rammstein, they wasted so much time translating Du Hast into english. Think what they could've done with that time! They could've written a second hit, for instance.

Round three had some high scores! Way to go, every team!

Round four, our fru-its and veggies round had a little something for everyone. I had a nice conversation with a quiz-ificater about how many things smell like almonds and how they're almost all bad. Like, say gangrene? And, as we learned last night, cyanide. It makes me question almonds themselves. Maybe that wonderful nutty smell is ALWAYS a warning sign in nature. DON'T EAT THAT MARS BAR.

Hahahaha, just kidding. We all know they don't sell Mars bars around here anymore. Snickers got greedy and put it's name all over that bid'ness.

We had some straight up medical professionals in the brewery last night, and they blew round five out of the water. Good work. Glad to see all that schooling is paying off for ya!

I loved round 6. So clever. So TV oriented. Words I hope someday also describe me.

Halloween TV clips followed in our 7th round. Wanna know something creepy? The first three scores I entered for the round were 6s! Triple 6 scores?! It's the mark of the quizbeast!

Then random knowledge came upon us and out of it all we had a TIE for both 1st & 2nd place AND 3rd & 4th place! Since only 1st and 2nd get prizes at BBottle, we brought them up for some sudden death. The death was sudden, but at least the teams died doing what they loved. Team Bayonets for Big Bird took 1st with the Munchkin Munchers right behind them for 2nd place!

Good work all. See you next week. In costume.
