Nothing like a little pub quiz to escape your family on Christmas Eve, huh?

Here were last night’s rounds:

Round 1: East & West—I was surprised to learn that Western Union doesn’t do telegraphs anymore. I was more surprised that the hipsters hadn’t brought it back.

Round 2: Oy To The World—See? Christmas isn’t all about making money! Just ask these Jews.

Round 3: Nice Kicks: Nike, Adidas, or Reebok?—AKA, which $200 athletic shoe is your fat ass sitting around in?

Round 4: The War on Christmas—I wish there were more dinosaurs in our Christmas specials.

Round 5: Kickin’ It—”I know I killed it on the death round!” —Reptars

Round 6: Guns & Roses—Fun fact: while, yes, the Norse Valkyries decided whether you died in battle or not, if you did die, these sexy bitches brought you your mead for the rest fo your afterlife.

Round 7: Everything’s All Brokeback Mountain—Nothing like playing a track that liberally uses the word “fag” in a gay bar. I just lost all my hag points.

Round 8: Random Knowledge—Tonight we learned that Michael Buble is 37, Rod Stewart is 67, and Blake Shelton is...terrifyingly ageless.

While Weiner Sandwich was our clear winner of the night, Reptars and Party Barge tied for second. And, even though second place got no tangible prize, they still wanted to settle the score, for the sake of pride. So they Rock-Paper-Scissored. After reminding them that, no, you don’t shoot on “Rock,” the rumbled. Reptars won, 2 out of 3, for nothing but honor. 

There were some new faces tonight and some missing faces. No Cobras or Tight Pants, but we did have the indomitable Weiner Sandwich and the scrappy Hamburger Pussy. We also had Mouse Rat, Jessika Boo and Whirly Boys.

Whirly Boys, new to this particular quiz came in second, upsetting the weekly battle for dominance between Weiner Sandwich and Hamburger Pussy. Weiner Sandwich was first making Hamburger Pussy third. We haven't had such a dark horse upset in quite some time... what on earth will happen next week?

Not knowing a damn thing about horses was the great equalizer this week. And really it was almost anyone's game until the final round of random trivia. The music questions were favorites as usual, but it was round 7 that set the Whirly Boys up for their second place success. They really like it when SLJ yells at people and stuff.

I hope all you newbies come back next week. Who wants to spend the 24th doing holiday stuff when you could be drinking and showing off? No one, that's who.

Tonight was a great night Hamburger Pussy was doing really well all night but they were always just behind Weiner Sandwich. And then BAM not only did they get 14 points in round 8 but they jokered it and totally pulled out a victory! It was also a member of their team that won the email question this week. So they will be sipping the spoils of war from a spectacular Geeks pint glass. Oh Yeah!

Cobras was on his own tonight until joined by the lovely lady cobra towards the end. Sadly though even becoming plural didn't help them claim first tonight. All Personality should have done better tonight. There were lots of catagories practically designed for old people (he's not old I just like to pretend he's sensitive about his age because it makes me feel like I'm in a sitcom) and yet he failed to come in first.

The visual round was my favorite kind. You could hear people figuring it out half the night. I love that distant "OH! No I know what that is! Shhhhh! Ha ha ha" you hear sporadically through the bar.
