I want to thank eveyone who made it out for my first time as quiz master, even if they didn't know it.  The cpzy atmosphere and cold beers made for a fun quiz.  It was a heated battle going in to the fina rounds between "my couch pulls out but I don't" and "are you today's date B/C you are an 11/10". with "my couch pulls out but I don't" taking the win.  Both teams has a good time and hopefully the sweet tastse of victory will make them thirsty for more quizzes.

Hi Everyone,

This is Snarky Shark. I'm the current host of the GeeksWhoDrink Pubquiz over at the Lunchbox Laboratory in South Lake Union and The Blarney Stone on Pike.

As for me, I'm pretty much a Seattlite. Sure, I've lived all over the Western United States, but I definitely call this place my home.

Personally, I dig science questions. Why? Well, in real life <le sigh> I'm a graduate student in the Department of Biochemistry in the University of Washington. Though, I can't say I've ever made a Kool-Aid cocktail as is the case with the Lunchbox Lab.

I really enjoy the regular players, with their funny quirks. As well as the hopeful glean in the eyes of the newbies who think they can win. (How quickly those hopes are shattered...)

Need a ringer for Chemistry? Biochemistry? Weird Geological Distributions of Heavy Metals? (Music and otherwise?) I can help with that. However, if you're on the other side of the quiz...I can't help you. But you're going to need it.

See you then.

October 20th 2014 - The Blarney Stone

The topic I'm talking about it round 5:

Visual round on people we are laughing at, not with.

Much like Milhouse.

and your mom.

But enough cheap shots. How about that Pubquiz?
Well, they were practically gold when it came to...

Round 2: Audio Round: In Space, No one can hear that you're off key.

Songs with an out of this world theme...Of course Bowie was going to make an appearance.

&

Round 3: Pick your fights.

Guess the state from the current political and historical conflict.
But the joke was on them, when it came to...

Round 1: They Call me "Interesting" Jeter

Guess the un-fitting Nickname of these sports players.

&

Round 7: Harm to the Chief.

Fair to say that most of these players weren't sure that someone even took a shot at these guys.
So, will everyone start changing their team names, like Potato Chips?, Schips?, Ships? Or will they stick the reliable go-to, like Deep Fried Chow Mein? One way to find out.

Next week!

At The Blarney Stone!

October 13th, 2014 - The Blarney Stone

Occassionally, the mix-up on team names requires some validation. One particular team, turned in answer sheet for TSP, which then changed to TSF and so I ran over to see what was up.

Just in case, they really were Team Teaspoon.

They actually meant TSF for Tantric Sex Freaks. Common abbreviation as we all know. Needless to say, they had something else on their mind. Mostly the concert next door, but they still gave the other teams a bit of challenge before they headed out.

So, what other abbreviations might these teams be familiar with?
Well, they know all the acronyms when it comes to:

Round 3: Those sneaky Canadians

&

Round 5 Visual round: You Can't Eat Film...

But they are left with WTF? when it comes to the subjects of:

Round 6: Networkaholics

Find the Phrase that ties together a TV show and another topic.

My favorite guess out of this was "Simpon's of Anarchy".

&

Random Knowledge.

Which might be understandable when it comes to any particular niche.
Good to see what stays and what goes, but questions remain...Will the Monorail Pirates end up going in circles? Does Hard Boiled Egg Foo Yong have good knowledge base on crime noir? and the eternal question: O Brother, Where art FRAU?
Find out. Next week!

At the Blarney Stone!
