Everyone is surprised to find out that I'm actually not very good at pub quizes. In all honesty...I kind of suck at them. So why would I want to be a quizmaster, you ask? Because I LOVE ATTENTION!!! I would do this job for free, if I still got to speak on a microphone in front of a (semi) captive audience.

Congratulations to Ruffleupaguess! After playing our quiz faithfully for months, and always coming in a disappointing second or third place, they finally managed to take home the ultimate prize - a $25 gift card to Barrio!

The "Before & After...Before & After" round was fun, but a little challenging for our teams. Trying to find the best way to mesh "Treaty of Versailles" with "Cyborg" lead to some creative spelling - good thing I didn't count spelling (who am I, Scripps? I don't care about that crap). I had to deny It's Not Your Vault their Treaty of Versailles-lons answer, though. I'm no Battlestar Galactica expert, but I do believe Cylons are full-on robots, not half robots half humans, as the question requested.

Another interesting fact of the night - apparently these teams are big fans of NFL franchises named after birds or cats! They all aced that round (made it really easy to score).

Finally, I hope everyone makes it out to the polls, tomorrow! No matter how you vote, please make sure to exercise your right to participate in your democracy.

Tonight's over-arching quiz theme? Schadenfreude. Team Hurricane Sandy tested the proposition, "Too Soon"? Yes...Yes. When you are poking fun at a massive natural disaster AS it is happening? Yes, that is too soon.

If that wasn't enough, we all shared a despicable, awkward giggle when I asked "what body shape is Banana?", and the crowd, nearly simultaneously said "Scoliosis". I know it doesn't even really make sense, but we all had a good giggle.

For real, though, we all hope that everyone on the East Coast makes it through the storm, safe and sound. There is no justifying the Scoliosis remark, though, so...we're probaby all going to go to hell for that one.
